The most fun celebrating our wonderful friends in an amazing city! We packed a quick getaway to London with tea at @theritzlondon , @theproducerslondon in the West End, a feast of Indian food at @gymkhanalondon , @jamavarlondon , and @the_tamil_prince , and capped it off with an incredible ceremony and party for @jodiesp3ncer and @ri_carpenter ❤️
Bonus - learning that their wedding hotel was where the @spicegirls shot Wannabe…couldn’t miss our chance for an iconic pose!
Telling stories on TV and in court cases
Former TV news anchor Hema Mullur spent 17 years telling stories on air. Now she’s telling them in court.
And it turns out journalism was the perfect training ground.
In this clip from Life After News, Hema talks about why former journalists often become powerful attorneys. The reason is simple: they know how to write for real people, not just insiders.
She also points to something happening right now in high-profile cases. Legal filings are no longer just written for judges. They’re written for the public, because everyone is reading them.
It’s a fascinating look at how the skills we learn in journalism carry far beyond the newsroom.
Watch the clip and hear Hema explain why journalists might have an unexpected advantage in the courtroom.

🎙️ Hema Mullur on knowing when it’s time to walk away from a newsroom.
“It’s my face at 5, 6, and 10 PM. If I don’t believe what I’m saying… I don’t want to be the face of that.”
In this powerful moment from Life After News, Hema Mullur talks about drawing boundaries, standing by your integrity, and recognizing when a job is no longer the right fit.
Sometimes the hardest decision in journalism is deciding you can’t say the words anymore.

What can you do with a liberal arts degree?
At the recent Liberal Arts Futures event, hosted by COLA Career Services, alumna Hema Mullur shared how her time at UT Austin shaped a career rooted in advocacy and impact.
After earning degrees in Plan II Honors and Journalism, followed by a J.D. from Texas Law, Hema spent 17 years as an award-winning broadcast journalist before transitioning into employment law. Across both paths, one skill has remained central: storytelling.
One of her key takeaways: studying the liberal arts teaches you how to contextualize the world, recognize patterns, and create meaning—skills that translate across industries and throughout a career.

This #GivingTuesday I’m proud to support @libraryfoundationatx , an organization that truly strengthens the heart of our city through access to knowledge, creativity, and community.
Just recently, the Foundation celebrated its incredible Stories Gala, where we were honored to hear from Austin Poet Laureate Zell Miller III, Regional Branch Manager Sharlisa Addison, and witness the powerful work of our young writers - the very future the Foundation nurtures and invests in every day.
Your support on #GivingTuesday helps ensure the @austinpubliclibrary remains a place where everyone belongs. With your help, the Foundation can continue to fuel programs like the Austin Youth Poet Laureate, atCentral, APL After Dark, Badgerdog Writing Workshops, Mayor’s Book Club, and the Kids Block Party.
At a moment when access to information, literature, and safe public spaces feels more important than ever, every gift helps protect these opportunities that strengthen our community. I hope you’ll join me in giving back today. Our future readers, writers, and leaders are counting on it!
A huge congrats to my husband on winning the @austinunder40 award in Youth and Education! He works incredibly hard and is the last person who ever wants recognition for it, and I’m so proud of him and everything he does in the higher education space. We got to know the other impressive finalists in his category, and it was a very tough competition.
He’s been my rock the last three years through school, so it was extra, extra special to go straight from law school graduation to then watching him win this award!! May 10th, 2025 will always be one of our best days ever!
We did it!
What a feeling to have my girl walk the stage with me this weekend as I graduated from @utexaslaw 🤘🏽
She’s been with me every step of the way, and she’s my inspiration as I step into the next chapter. Going back to school after so many years working was a terrifying decision, but it gave me the chance to be home for every bedtime and go on an unforgettable five-month-long European adventure. It only gets better from here!
