Thank you to @HumanNeedsFoodPantry in Montclair, NJ, for the inspiring tour! We’re excited to expand our partnership and support the incredible work your team does every week.
The Pantry may be small, but it’s mighty, serving over 7,000 people each month, including 250 housebound individuals who receive weekly deliveries. With only six part-time employees and a dedicated volunteer network, they make an extraordinary impact.
Their work is powered by community support, foundation grants, and in-kind donations from local partners. Partnerships like ours help sustain and amplify their mission to care for neighbors in need.

This week our cofounder and CIO, Alex Husted, joined the team at New Jersey Natural Gas for a Lunch & Learn and Weeklong Textile Collection Event at their NJ headquarters.
The idea for the event came together after NJNG’s Environmental Committee toured our Helpsy warehouse last year and wanted to dive deeper into the impact of textile reuse and recovery. Alex shared industry statistics, Helpsy’s story, answered great questions and connected with employees over lunch. Thank you for inviting us and for your commitment to sustainability!
If your organization would like to host an educational collection event with Helpsy, let’s connect.

While estimates vary, it’s clear that Americans are buying more clothing than ever, and too much of it ends up in the trash. At Helpsy, we’re working to change that by making it easier to give clothes a second life through local donation programs, community partnerships, and innovative sorting technologies.
Earlier this summer, Helpsy’s Chief of Staff Lisa Sciannella joined Ashley Sterner on WYPR’s On The Record to talk about the growing challenge of textile waste and how Helpsy is working to change the story in Maryland and beyond.

Did you know that 85% of textiles end up in the trash or municipal waste stream, even though 95% could be reused or repurposed?
Earlier this summer, we hosted a tour at our Connecticut warehouse to show how Helpsy is tackling this challenge every day. From collections to processing and sorting, our work helps keep clothing, shoes, and accessories out of landfills and in circulation.
A great way to be part of the solution is to shop secondhand, host a Helpsy collection bin, organize a clothing drive in your community, or schedule a Helpsy tour to learn more. Reach out to us at [email protected]!

How are you celebrating Tax Day? We’re celebrating with a textile collection event in Frederick County, Maryland!
Frederick County has been a fantastic partner—especially when it comes to getting the word out. Their creative marketing helps drive real impact, and we’re thrilled to continue collaborating with them to keep clothing out of landfills.
We’re also excited to have Paul Varga from Frederick County join us on stage next month at WasteExpo 2025 in Las Vegas! He’ll be part of our panel “Tons of Textiles: Textile Waste, Consumer Behavior, and Community Solutions”—alongside Lisa Sciannella (Helpsy), Marisa Adler (RRS), and Jeff J. Galad (Recycle Coach). Together, we’ll explore how municipalities can kick-start or scale their textile recovery programs and engage their communities in the process.
Want to learn how your community can launch a textile program? Come see us at WasteExpo!

A huge thank you to the incredible Villanova Executive MBA Program team—and a special shoutout to students Ashley Penna, Sean, Matthew, Ashley, and Jigar—for bringing their energy, expertise, and fresh perspective to Helpsy! 💙♻️
This crew wasn’t afraid to get their hands dirty as they dove into the world of textile recovery. They learned the ropes of rag life, asked thoughtful questions, challenged assumptions, and turned their ideas into real strategies we’re now putting into action.
We’re proud to have been part of their capstone journey—and it was a nice full-circle moment, as our cofounder and CIO, Alex Husted, is a Villanova alum himself. A special thanks to Alex Husted, Dave Milliner and other key team members, who were instrumental in guiding the team through the ins and outs of rag life.
Welcome to the rag life, Wildcats! We can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make next.

Solving the textile waste crisis takes all of us—this includes those who wear, buy, design, manufacture, and eventually discard clothing. That means the next generation of fashion designers has a big role to play.
We’re proud to partner with @parsonsschoolofdesign to bring visibility and transparency to what happens to used clothing. By opening our doors, we’re helping students see the full lifecycle of garments and inspiring more sustainable design choices from the start.
Join Parsons student Aanya (@aanyanyc ) and her classmates as they explore our Eatontown, NJ warehouse!

At Helpsy, our mission to keep clothes out of the trash wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our drivers.
They are the backbone of our operations, working across the ten states we serve to ensure textiles are collected and diverted from landfills. We’re proud to recognize several drivers who have each collected 900,000+ or even 1 million pounds of textiles this past year.
Their hard work directly supports our commitment to sustainability and providing meaningful, honorable work in the circular economy. Thank you to these drivers for their dedication and impact. Their efforts are making a real difference.
