🔥YET ANOTHER HELL OF A RIDE 🔥 Just a coupla weeks ago, @1ne_year hosted another edition of Helluva Ride, and what an unreal send off to daylight savings it was! Glad we could fit in one more big, sunny day of music and mates before settling into the colder months in Melbourne! Big energy output from the bands, DJs, vendors, and crowd at this edition of Helluva Ride. Absolutely stoked with how the day panned out, and a huge shoutout to the crew and anybody for all the help throughout the event - especially big shoutouts to @rosieexcess on sound, @brendanfrost for the photos, the amazing DJs and of course all the bands involved. Whether it’s straight rock n’ roll or eclectic punk adjacent bands, seeing people getting around events like this is always a big reminder how great the music communities around Melbourne and Australia are.

Sat down in the St Kilda RSL in a busy dining hall with Wayland and Reece from Flight To Dubai - and even got a visit from Reece’s son. The fellas from NSW spoke about starting out in 2011 and how Sydney has changed, what they love about Melbourne, being labelled a “funka punka” band, and GG Allin. And to kick off the day, come and roam around some of the market stalls we have on offer, listen to some DJs in the sun, and get yourself some food! Her art is what happens when ADHD meets cartoons, pop culture, and an unhealthy obsession with dogs in tiny outfits. @roxxistattoo - Fitzroy’s Freshest.  @doomsday.peddler / @alleyjuice Friendly, inclusive tattooshop amongst the dive bars on Johnston Street. Neve phoxyy and Eleanor @feralhole69 The two cousins have an eclectic, intentionally curated collection of pieces with character and attitude. Vintage ~ Y2K ~ Alternative Contemporary. Ethically sourced to support more sustainable, conscious fashion choices. This stall is pre-loved, not just second-hand. @_playte Playte are a gastro-architect duo who use local food as a tool for collective healing. Their work is rooted in community creating site specific experiences that explore the intersection between art, architecture, and the politics of food

On the week of Helluva Ride, we caught up with Izy and Kate of the almighty Baby Mullet just after a raucous rehearsal. We had a chin wag about rugby, doing “6 years of stuff”, Hannah Montana, and living in the southern ‘burbs. The final day party to end daylight savings is this weekend! The Salmon Sisters. Punkish Rockish, Red fish Blue fish. They were born as conjoined quintuplets and were separated about 3 years ago so that they could play in a band, it’s going well.  The band have been carving out their own turf on the gig circuit recently, playing with other local legends such as Frenzee, Our Carlson, and Bob Log III. Next Saturday is the date for one last day party before Daylight Savings ends and the clocks roll back! Hot Tubs Time Machine unfortunately cannot make it to this edition of Helluva Ride, but luckily, the instrument swapping alternative post-punk powerhouse The Salmon Sisters have jumped on board to keep things rolling 🙌 @salmonsisters_ 
 For the final Saturday of Daylight Savings before we settle into the shorter and colder Melbourne months, Helluva Ride is shaping up nicely! Don’t forget that this is a day party - get you and your crew over to the venue at 3:00pm to hang out in the courtyard and check out some of the market stalls, get some food, or get yourselves a new flash tattoo before bands kick off at 5:00. The weather is looking unreal, so it’s looking like a great send off for the warmer months of the year. Caught up with all time legend JD to chat about his brain child - the almighty power poppin’, hard rockin’ group Leatherman. As the founder of Damaged music, Jake is an absolute champion and advocate for the punk and rock n’ roll communities, and plays a mean guitar himself (tearing up on the drum kit when he’s not doing all this). We chatted about releasing music on Valentines Day, Melbourne being inundated with great rock n’ roll, and guitarmonies. Tickets to Helluva Ride IV in bio 🎫

Joining the DJ lineup are Bitumen, who perform an eclectic take on post-punk that marries Trent Reznor with Kylie Minogue; Robocop meets Basic Instinct. Taking to the decks this time, the groups range of influence, from pop, house, goth, breakbeat, metal and industrial, is united through vocalist Kate - a direct and powerful through-line for the groups defiant, alluring, dynamic assault. Kosmetika DJs - aka Kraftneau - first appearance in 2026!
