So thrilled to finally share with you all my animation that I worked on last year to highlight the life of the Jamaican-British Pre-Raphaelite model, Fanny Eaton. This has been such a pleasure to bring to life! The animation was drawn in a loose pencil sketch style and GIF style format. I was commissioned a few years ago to create a two-page comic in response to research on gender-based violence during the lockdown period. This subsequently led to another project in collaboration with researchers and artists in Mexico. As a result, the artworks were included in exhibitions this year in Brighton and Mexico City.
The research by Dr Lesley Murray and the artworks are now part of a book, Storying the Immobilities of Gender Violence in the UK and Mexico, which was published earlier this month.
Earlier this week, I attended the @dazed x @vue.lumiere screening, followed by a Q&A about the adaptation of @isabel_greenberg graphic novel, The One Hundred Nights of Hero.
Directed by @julia_jackman_ and starring @nicholasgalitzine , Emma Corrin, @maikamonroe and @charli_xcx 100 Nights of Hero celebrates resilience through the power of storytelling and female empowerment, as Cherry and Hero navigate a “hawk-eyed” patriarchal society.
