📚 We're enrolling new students for our summer semester of English as a New Language classes! We offer beginner level in-person courses for all English language-learners 18 years old and over. ☀️ Our annual potluck has evolved into Hello Neighbor Community Day: a summertime block party with food, family activities, and live performances for everyone in our neighborhood! Join new neighbors, community supporters, friends, and families on Sunday, June 14 from 1–4 p.m. for an afternoon of connection, celebration, and fun. As this event has grown over the years, we’ve reimagined it to better reflect our community. In light of recent SNAP benefit cuts impacting many families, we are no longer asking attendees to bring food. Instead, Hello Neighbor will provide a welcoming, inclusive experience where everyone can participate fully. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. This past weekend, we celebrated the mothers, grandmothers, and caregivers in Hello Neighbor’s Little Neighbors and Smart Start programs with a joyful afternoon of food, music, crafts, and connection 💐 Families came together to share a meal, enjoy children’s activities, and celebrate the love and resilience of the caregivers who support our community every day. Children created handmade bouquets and cards for their moms, making the afternoon especially meaningful for our Little Neighbors and Smart Start families. Thank you to @latin.american.cultural.center for welcoming us into your beautiful space, @swlflowers for donating flowers for children to create bouquets for their moms, @hueandcline for capturing these special moments, and @cakes4care for providing delicious desserts for our community. We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this celebration so special 💛

Mother’s Day is coming up, and we’re excited to host our Mother’s Day event for clients to celebrate the resilient mothers and caregivers in our community. But for us, support for parents continues year round. Here are some of the ways we help new neighbors navigate parenthood every day: 🍼 Smart Start: Comprehensive support for pregnancy and postpartum, including appointment accompaniment and essential supplies. 🐣 Little Neighbors: Dedicated programming for families with young children to foster community and play. 💛 A Welcoming Space: Our office features a dedicated lactation room, providing dignity and comfort for nursing parents. 📗 Accessible Learning: We offer free in-office childcare for parents in our English language classes to reduce barriers to education. Hello Neighbor is expanding into Westmoreland County! We’ve started a new chapter in Westmoreland, where we’ll connect immigrants and refugees with work authorization to meaningful employment and a beautiful place to call home. This initiative is led by Director of Employment Moshe Sherman and Employment Program Manager Daria Loshak, senior members of the Hello Neighbor team with extensive experience supporting new neighbors with employment opportunities and navigating jobs. The program serves new neighbors already living in Westmoreland County, as well as Allegheny County clients who are open to commuting or relocating for employment opportunities. By connecting immigrant and refugee job seekers with regional employers and workforce development initiatives we are able to support employment gaps in Westmoreland County and support economic growth while building stability and belonging for new neighbors. Westmoreland County offers a unique blend of natural beauty and vibrant urban centers like Greensburg, Latrobe, Ligonier, Murrysville, and New Kensington, with a vibrant manufacturing sector as well as employment opportunities in healthcare, hospitality and tourism. Want to make a difference for refugee families navigating SNAP benefit loss? We're still accepting food box donations through Salem’s! Currently, this is the easiest way to provide immediate, tangible relief to the families who need it. Simply purchase “Emergency Food Box” from Salem’s online ordering system at tinyurl.com/HNFoodBox, select ASAP pickup, and we’ll handle the rest. We will continue to pick up and distribute these donations every week as long as they keep coming in! This partnership is special because it allows us to offer familiar, culturally-relevant items to clients that can be hard to find at traditional food banks & pantries. Thank you to our partner Salem’s and everyone who has donated so far. When systems fall short, community care is how we lift our neighbors up through challenging times.
