Every JOHI table is built to bring joy and warmth to your home. Each one is built to order, whether from our existing collection designs or a fully custom piece. We are an independent studio that designs and manufactures your furniture in-house. As a part of our process, we prioritize getting to know you and your style, to make intentional decisions with our material and craft every step of the way.
Very proud of this one! Our client had the vision to turn an existing TV nook into a boutique family library. We prioritized open shelving and sized everything to fit existing artwork and books. We used Rift White Oak on the vertical surfaces to reinforce the modern California Coastal aesthetic of the kitchen, bringing a warm and calming ambience to the living room. Designed for a smooth single day install, all of the pieces were carefully fabricated at our workshop with hidden fasteners and clever joinery.
Keeping busy at our workshop - just a half hour from our Santa Cruz showroom! It’s truly special to be able to share with our Westside visitors that we make all of our furniture and built-ins here locally with the sweetest crew.

This project was a special opportunity to reimagine a quiet corner of the home into a highly functional and intimate retreat for reading, gathering, and everyday living. Thoughtful spatial planning, material warmth, and carefully integrated millwork were all essential in shaping the final result.
Dwell’s feature, “How They Pulled It Off,” highlights the collaborative design process and problem-solving behind transforming the space while respecting the home’s midcentury character.

We are hiring! Join our design-forward fabrication team. We’re looking for a skilled woodworker with 3+ years of experience in a professional woodworking environment. Our projects range from freestanding furniture to built-in cabinetry, and the ability to adapt to varied project scopes is key.
This is a part-time fabricator & craftsman position with the opportunity for growth. Based in Watsonville, California.
We’d love to hear from you if:
- You are ready to serve as a lead fabricator in a small team environment, working closely with team members to take jobs from plans to installation-ready.
- You can analyze and build from shop drawings with a keen eye.
- You are confident using and troubleshooting heavy machinery (sliding table saw, jointer, planar, wide belt sandar). CNC experience is a plus.
- You are comfortable using precision measuring tools and a variety of hand tools.
- You are diligent incorporating the use of computers, tablets, and time tracking into your day.
- You are punctual, proactive, professional, and a team player.

Though we’ve been quiet here, the workshop has been humming along on with furniture and built-ins! We’re energized and so excited to ring in the new year with the latest & upcoming deliveries.
For holiday gifts, here are a few updates!
1️⃣ Our Groove restock has landed, availabe in 5-row and 2-row options. How we love to use it? Keep your favorite pens close at hand. Or, lay out your go-to small & slim fragrances (scent rollers, travel sized perfumes).
2️⃣ End Grain Cutting Boards will be our final mini restock of the year! We have a limited few coming to the showroom for our last open weekend of the year (Dec. 13-14).
3️⃣ That’s right, we’ll be closed early this year! Place your orders by Sunday Dec. 14th! All online orders will ship by Dec. 15th✨. All orders placed from the 15th on will ship in early January.

Reflecting on one of our biggest projects to date - a dream home library! So many decisions go into realizing a space like this one: interior design (@annepoondesign ), materials, craft (@hellojohi ), and construction installation (Xanadu Construction). It is not always a straight line, so a unified vision keeps the team going. We’ve loved bringing this to life.
Our favorite part? Being able to include so much solid white oak throughout the build. The benches, bookcases, and window surround are all made from solid white oak — Ready for a lifetime, or two, of use. The hardwood elements fill the space with a natural warmth you immediately feel when stepping in to enjoy the moment.
