A few department heads who made our film look pretty & goth. And also our producer's carabiner 🖤 @underthenerdhood & @paulacrichton were the first two people on board for Vegas and I CANNOT EXPRESS how grateful I am for their enthusiasm about the project from jump. Margaret immediately went into boss mode, took care of all the hard stuff, and made life easy and fun for us when it came time to shoot. Not to mention all the production design she jerry-rigged because she's a genius. Paula and I were destined to work together by a corset (long story) and idk what I would've done without her passion, know-how, and creative problem solving. Having these two in charge was like...... a dream come true And don't EVEN get me STARTED about @maevekiely who went crazy on the costume design. I wish I could show you the fitting. The leather. The harnesses. The collars. Maeve is so creative and smart and brought our freaks Sisterfriend and Angel to life waaay beyond my wildest dreams. Like damn All three of these insanely talented & hardworking women really went above and beyond the call of duty to make this short. “What Happens in Vegas” is truly one of the most fun projects I have gotten to shoot! It is a quirky hilarious goth-coded short film that came straight from the wild mind of @hellojewell . Silver Lake Shorts Appreciation Post!!!! Last Friday we premiered our film “What Happens in Vegas” at Silver Lake Shorts at El Cid on Sunset Blvd. It’s a silly 6-minute short about codependent goths stuck in the suburbs, and it has a long history dating back to my first sketch writing class in LA (@ The Nerdist School which was also on Sunset). This 5-page script was never really a sketch, so I changed it into a short, and heard it out loud at the park for what was randomly one of our biggest Barnsdall Table Read gatherings ever. You guys made it sound so much funnier than I had hoped it might sound, and I got a little bit excited. Then @cleveen.d asked if I wanted to screen something at The TrAInslator (watch now on YouTube) pilot premiere at Whammy and I was like YES I’LL MAKE VEGAS before accepting that I needed money to make it. So I started searching for money and for a beautiful pastel bedroom with identical twin beds. I asked @baaaadams to play "Sisterfriend" in the film if I ever found the money and the beds. Then Silver Lake Shorts announced that they wanted shorts for their new grant but they needed to be SHORT and produceable for $5k. Ok well. Guess what, I had a 5-page script and a dream!!!!!!! I made a pitch deck, asked Clev and my sister to revise my application 400 times, and freaked out when I saw the email that said I got the grant. Fast forward through pre, pro, and post. @underthenerdhood found the beds. We've got a really funny & sweet & weird short film that has been sitting in my head for like 7 years. Thank you so much @_jared_vibes_corwin_ , @whynotbenton , @katbusball , my fantastic mentor @dimitrisimakis , and quite a few more folks and sponsors behind the scenes making @silverlakeshorts happen. I am beyond grateful for every cent, but the vote of confidence and green light to make a movie was………invaluable. I’m still processing but whatever. Just want to say ty ty ty to the Silver Lake Shorts community for a wonderful fellowship year. More to come!!!!

started 2025 by forgetting my inhaler evacuating the fire in Hollywood and ended 2025 doing my inhaler at AG Cook in Hollywood. it turned out to be a good year for self-driving cars, dancing, and making movies with your friends 💞
