There’s a lot to love about our cinnamon rolls but there’s also a lot to know! They’re high-maintenance but (in our always humble opinions), they’re forever worth it. To round up all our most-often asked questions, we’ve got a post for you that we’ll update as things change and shift (as they tend to do with sudden swells in demand or changes in seasons.) When do you serve them? We sell classic AND specialty cinnies Fridays - Sundays and our first batches are ready to serve at 8a.

What time do I need to line up? This depends on so many factors (time of year, popularity of the flavor, etc.) but for Hoboken, the line usually starts around 7/7:30. Jersey City is a little more chill, and we normally see lines start to form around 7:45.

How many rolls can I buy? We allow four per person.

Do you post to @grubhub ? We do! We have a limited quantity reserved for delivery only on Friday - Sunday.

How long do I have to wait? And why do I need to wait? We bake these beauties up fresh each morning and there are no shortcuts to their process of proofing then baking for 22 minutes at a time. They also need a little time to cool before we frost them and box them up for you. And before you ask why we don’t get a bigger oven, our shops are equipped with the biggest options we could fit within each space. Depending on when you join the line, your wait to secure a roll could be 45-minutes - 2 hours.

February 2026 ➡️ May 2026 👀 Not the prettiest progress shots, but pretty isn’t the point. A brand new staircase to our basement and a fully demoed space mean our New York shop is deep in construction mode 🔨 Still no word on when we’ll be open but for now, we’ll enjoy the steps 🥳

🤝🏼 We didn’t know each other well when we decided to go into business together. It was only a year into being friends that we chose to take an entrepreneurial leap with one another but we know how vital our relationship is to the success of The Hive. We’re friends first, biz partners second, and make sure that we take time to enjoy each other’s company outside of work to keep the strong dynamic intact!
☕️ Neither of us had worked in the coffee business before launching The Hive! We loved visiting local shops with our kids and began to notice things we’d do differently if we had our own. Our former corporate experiences (Kristin in retail merchandising, Catherine in public relations) shape the way we run our business, and we continue learning about the coffee and tea industries as we go along.
❤️ We don’t always hire experienced baristas. We can teach almost anyone to use an espresso machine and with the support of our roasting partner, @kobrickcoffee , and Master Barista, @wally.06 , we can deepen any teammate’s training but we can never teach someone how to have a conversation or care about customers if they don’t already have those skills within.
🏢 A lot of people thought we were crazy for launching a space with so much going on in it, and we lost out on so many other spaces before finding a landlord in Hoboken who believed in us and our vision (while others scoffed at the idea of a coffee and bakeshop with a playspace). Thankfully, we managed to tune them out, find an incredible space with an awesome landlord for our first shop, and trust deeply in our plan.
😷 We opened in the thick of a global pandemic in November 2020. We were tempted to abandon the plan and beg to get out of our lease, but thanks to the aforementioned landlord and his sage advice (“you get what you give, so give this your all and it’ll all work out”), we stayed the course and remain grateful everyday that we did 🥹 And yes, we still live by that advice every day.
May 1, 2026: Dirt Pudding 🐛 Never have we ever been so excited to transform our favorite childhood dessert into a cinny 👀 Our classic cinny dough got a nostalgic remix with Oreo and chocolate pudding filling that gets baked then topped with chocolate frosting, chocolate pudding, crushed Oreo, and a gummy worm. They’re sprouting up in JC and Hoboken at 8a every Friday through Sunday from May 1st through the 31st, and yes, the early bird really does get the worm with this one 💓
