We introduce Mancunian Zimbabwean MC and Producer Chunky in a presentation of his debut album, Somebody’s Child.
Chunky’s catalogue of work spans over a decade with deep musical roots that start in the genesis of Grime in the north and expand into London’s bass music hubs with Chunky being a mainstay at both Rinse FM and Swamp 81.
Written and produced by himself, listeners are granted access to his abstract rap sound. Gracing tracks with witty bars, Chunky presents a body of art that displays his pan-African influences, and tales of the album’s composition over its decade long production.

O catálogo de trabalho de Chunky abrange mais de uma década com profundas raízes musicais que começam na gênese do Grime no norte e se expandem para os centros de bass music de Londres, com Chunky sendo um pilar na Rinse FM e Swamp 81.

House music was born from Black and queer communities in the U.S., and as this lineage has become whitewashed, Europeanized and commodified, we want to bring it back into focus.
The event will take place in two parts. The Exposé runs from 18:00–22:00 and includes a panel talk with guests including Chima Isaaro (@chimaisaaro ) and Joshua Jenkins (@iosnua ) from Pressing Plant (@pressing_plant ). There will be a screening of the documentary I Was There When House Took Over the World and a reading room with books from Well Read (@areyouwellread ).
The After Party will commence from 22:30–03:00.
