ASH is a rising star in Vancouver’s independent dance and burlesque scene. She’s been captivating (and occasionally commandeering) the attention of friends and family with her performances for as long as she can remember.
Passionate about creating inclusive spaces, ASH also runs her own heels progressive series through Heavy Duty Dance Collective, challenging size exclusion in the dance world. You’ll find her lighting up stages all over the city and soaking up inspiration from every artist she meets.
In March 2025, Ash was crowned Queen’s Choice at the Queen City Burlesque Festival in Nelson, BC—an honor that cements her as a fierce and fabulous force to watch. Keep an eye out—this bombastic booty is just getting started!

It wouldn’t be Hot and Heavy without a performance from @heavydutydancecollective ! Under the direction of Ashleigh Kearns @helloashleigh , the ensemble features dancers of all experience levels—from beginners to seasoned performers—united by a shared mission: to challenge mainstream beauty standards and reclaim space on the stage.
Rooted in the belief that sexy comes in every shape and size, this group actively pushes back against fatphobia in the dance world. They reject the notion that dancers need to look a certain way to be worthy of the spotlight, and instead center joy, presence, and unapologetic self-expression in their work. By performing in spaces that have historically excluded larger bodies, prioritizing accessible rehearsals, and cultivating an environment where all bodies are celebrated, they’re redefining what dance can look and feel like.
This is more than a performance—it’s a movement. And it’s wrapped in rhinestones, rhythm, and radical self-love.
