On Voortouw we celebrate women pushing boundaries in electronic music and Zohar is doing exactly that. With her razor-sharp club-signature, rattling low-end and what can only be described as mixing witchcraft.

For @rrfm.fm their 5 year anniversary we’ve prepared a show with @helliedj , who’s been an integral part of the Amsterdam night culture, as a DJ, radio host and in support of the whole cultural scene through her work at @afk020 .
Hellie is Chinese-American, but mostly raised in the east of The Netherlands before moving to Amsterdam. She started promoting her own parties, Berry’s Paradise, before the question “where are all the women?” became impossible to ignore. From that point on she dedicated a vast part of her energy in showcasing women and femme-identifying people in her radioshow ‘Women’ on Red Light Radio and Radio Alhara and nowadays with @voortouw on @echoboxradio . She also started an all-femme booking agency (Pique) and organised symposia and workshops on DJ-production and DJ-ing for femme-identifying people.
Hellie has a strong will to platform marginalised people and this Friday we’ll get a better understanding how all of this came to be. Tune in this Friday the 27th of March from 10:00 - 12:00 at @rrfm.fm

Two months in Mexico to kick things off, continued with nonstop fun behind and in front of the booth. A year of goodbyes and hellos; farewell grandma 🤍, welcome Salma 🌱, and cheers to new beginnings (Sander & Rein 💞). Tbh, it’s been exhausting and not always fun. My best friend broke up with me, work induced a panic attack, I’ve been diagnosed with neuropathy and being independent as a deejay is tough (🦆 Socials!). I’m very grateful to all the promoters and my friends for believing in me. Music and dancing really are the best medicine.
Glad to put this year to rest and curious to see what 2026 will bring. Starting the year off strong with a b2b with Lylo at Is Burning in Tillatec💃🏽 Wishing you all the best!

De Regeling Nachtcultuur van het AFK gaat weer open!
Vorig jaar kregen 64 projecten in totaal €957.500,00 aan subsidie toegekend, wat de diversiteit van de Amsterdamse #nachtcultuur verder heeft versterkt. Van clubavonden gecentreerd rondom locals in Raum tot The Queer Agenda in Skatecafe tot Inbranders in Garage Noord. Met onze bijdrage heeft The Platform hun eerste festival op Ruigoord georganiseerd en is Sober Clubbing een begrip in de Nacht geworden. Het kan allemaal!
Ook dit jaar kan jij je idee pitchen en kans maken op €5.000 – €15.000 om jouw nachtproject tot leven te brengen.
Er zijn maar 40 plekken, en vol = vol.
We gaan open op 4 november. Wees er snel bij!

Voortouw is een tweemaandelijks programma waarin we voornamelijk elektronische muziek draaien, een mix van nieuwe tracks en klassiekers. De focus tijdens Voortouw ligt op tracks die geproduceerd zijn door vrouwen of met vrouwelijke artiesten in de hoofdrol. Van up-and-coming talenten tot gevestigde namen, we geven vrouwelijke creativiteit in de elektronische muziek de ruimte die het verdiend.
We hadden Kyra Khaldi laatst langs in de studio. Als DJ, producer én mede-oprichter van haar eigen label Foresight Records, heeft Kyra zich in korte tijd bewezen als een veelzijdige kracht in het nachtleven. Waarschijnlijk ken je haar krachtige club tracks, maar tijdens Voortouw hebben we het juist ook gehad over haar transitie naar meer introspectieve, experimentele poptracks, zoals van haar alterego: Sensa. Als kunstenaar wil Kyra niet in één hokje worden gestopt, en vandaag gaan we het dan ook hebben over hoe ze haar fascinatie voor de kruisbestuiving van genres en invloeden heeft omarmd.
