The Tale of the Stonefolk and the Fire Demon
Long ago, the land of Mossveil was a peaceful haven where little living stones spent their days basking in the sun, playing by the river, and whispering old stories passed down through cracks and echoes. Their world was simple and safe—until the day the sky split open.
From a rift of flame and shadow emerged the Fire Demon, a being of burning laughter and endless hunger. Its fiery tendrils wrapped around the standing stones at the heart of the valley, and three glowing hearts pulsed on its chest like trophies stolen from forgotten worlds. Wherever the demon drifted, the grass turned black, and the rivers hissed to steam.
The Stonefolk, usually carefree and sleepy, had no answer to such terror. Many curled up in fear, hoping the nightmare would pass. But among them, three stones stood apart.
Peblik, the tiniest, shook so much that the flowers beside him swayed. He couldn’t fight, but he refused to hide, whispering encouragement to his friends even while trembling.
Gravin, the thoughtful one, studied the demon’s movements, his spider companion weaving silent patterns of warning in the grass. Gravin’s mind raced with possibilities, knowing that wisdom would be their sharpest weapon.
Buldar, the largest, found himself chosen by fate. From the heart of the earth, a ghostly sword and shield rose into his hands—relics of an ancient promise carved into stone long before he was born. He did not want this burden. His cracks glowed with fear as much as with magic. But he stepped forward anyway, because no one else could.
The three of them, bound not by strength but by loyalty, faced the Fire Demon together. Peblik’s courage gave them hope, Gravin’s cleverness guided their steps, and Buldar’s trembling bravery held the line.
And so began the legend of the Stonefolk—a tale of fragile heroes standing against the fire, proving that even the smallest and most fearful hearts can shine brighter than the darkest flame.
