Burdell x Pax x Luddite Winemaker Dinner
Wed, May 13 | 6PM WE ARE STOKED to kick off @hellachenin Week announcements with an exclusive winemaker dinner at Burdell, freshly named #3 in the @sfchronicle 2026 Top 100 Restaurants This is a true bridging of the hemispheres with legendary Chenin and Syrah producers, Pax Mahle of @paxwines and Niels & Alice Verburg of @luddite_wines This collaboration was born when Alice met Pax at Hella Chenin 2025, stayed in touch, and returned a few months later to join harvest with him. From that connection, the idea for this collab dinner was born. The evening @burdell_oak features a family-style, five-course menu paired with standout wines from both wineries, including library releases open that night only. Throughout the dinner, enjoy conversation with the winemakers alongside insights from @chefgeoffdavis on the inspiration for each course and pairing. This is an intimate, communal experience with very limited seats. From Thursday, 5/14 through Saturday, 5/16, we’re offering a chef’s tasting menu dedicated to Chenin Blanc. In partnership with our friends at Culture Wine Co., we’ve curated a pairing that explores the magic of this grape across both hemispheres—from the Loire to South Africa. Thursday, May 14th – Saturday, May 16th The Experience: A special seasonal tasting menu paired exclusively with global Chenin Blancs. Price: $82 menu | $55 wine pairing Take Note: This menu will be offered in lieu of our nightly tasting menu. Our À la carte menu will also be available. Space is limited. This Thursday, we’ve got @gail.wines & @bittertannins in the house. We’ve got Hella Chenin by the glass, a Gail Wines flight, a Chenin flight (available all week), and Vietnamese food to pair. THURS 5/14 @ 6pm: In advance of the Berkeley-based festival of the white grape you haven’t yet become obsessed with, Best Friends is hosting a @hellachenin sneak preview! We’re thrilled to be among the first places in California to host one of the world’s greatest Chenin-whsiperers: Niels Verburg of South Africa’s @luddite_wines ! We’ll be tasting two of his white wines, two of his reds, and putting them up against analogues from elswehere! No tickets – just show up!
