Today is my 2 year anniversary back on skates. I skated for about 10 years prior to taking 15 years off. Like anything else in life, there have been ups (meeting new friends from around the world) and downs (breaking my collarbone last year). But I feel the most free in life when I'm in a flow state only thinking of what is literally right in front of me (which I guess translates to why I like skiing so much too).
Do I regret missing that time off? Yes and no. Yes because I know I could be a much better skater if I stuck with it and meeting people along the way but who knows if I would have sustained a career ending injury during that time or not. So from a health perspective, no, I don't regret missing that time. There are other reasons that I'll save for another day.
In order to make up for that lost time, I try to center my vacations (and life) mainly around skating nowadays.
What about you? What has your skate journey looked like? Let me know in the comments!
PS: Don't try what I'm doing in this video unless if you're confident in your abilities. It's really not safe for a lot of people and I understand the inherent risks involved in the activities I partake in.

Havenāt posted in awhile. Been on a different grind at the moment. But Iāve been kinda digging the videos my Photos app has been making for me recently. What do you think?
Missing this yearās @bladingcamp so hereās the tail end of that trip from last year with a little glimpse of my Barcelona adventure.
One thing I do love about this is the reminder of the people you meet during your travels and the friendships you make along the way. Without them, Itās definitely not the same.
Despite the woes of social media, one bright side is the fact you still can stay connected with people far and distant from you even if you donāt talk often.
Not sure why I got on this existential tip, might be the š beverage talking šāš½

A year ago to the day, I was unexpectedly laid off from my job of nearly 11 years. Some of you know this, and some of you donāt. At the time, I was pretty lost and had no plan for what to do next. I could have let that setback devastate my life, but instead, I saw it as a chance to break free from everyday societal norms and expectations.
I didnāt fully realize it then, but that layoff was a catalyst for me to start living life on my own terms. Donāt get me wrong, it hasnāt been smooth sailing, far from it, but I embraced the opportunity to focus on my happiness and well-being, free from the constraints of the daily grind and the need to appease someone above me.
During this time, I mainly stayed within the US, roadtripping twice back and forth across the country (Iām currently on my third way back across). Not only that, I was able to take a couple of international trips and even extend one of them due to my lack of commitments. Had I had any commitments, I definitely would not have been able to experience everything that I did.
Over the past year, I havenāt been able to do everything I wanted, but Iāve discovered a newfound freedom and a deeper sense of self. This journey has taught me that sometimes, the most unexpected events can lead to the most profound transformations.
So, to anyone facing uncertainty or unexpected changes, remember: what seems like an ending might just be the beginning of something incredible. Embrace the unknown, trust in yourself, and live life on your own terms.
For everyone that I have crossed paths with during this time, you all have impacted me in some way, shape, or form, even if Iām primarily flying solo. Thanks for being apart of the journey.
Iāve been having too much fun skiing 10 days a week to sit down and create anything. Donāt hate the player, hate the company that laid me off š Also, if you can afford it, I highly recommend this 11/10
Even though I lost my job recently, I didnāt let that ruin me. Granted, Iām still on my journey to figure things out but Iāve been trying to turn that more into a positive experience than a negative one. If youāre going through this as well, try the following that has helped me out through these times:
- Make my own schedule - go skating at any time I want - make new connections in aspects of my life Iāve been neglecting
- Do (almost) whatever I want - Some days I donāt getting up until 1pm. Great - Some days I binge a show. Fine - Other days I focus on my passion projects all day. Amazing
- Move at my own pace - I canāt figure things out as fast as others and thatās fine! - Iāve been figuring out what works for me and continue to refine the process - Weāre ever evolving people so evolving the process is natural for personal growth
Find this information helpful? Follow me as I figure out more of my journey and hopefully it can help you out in yours!

Not sure how a drink makes my vision better but people have said Iām built different š this is a joke before this triggers youā¦it takes at least two drinks to make my vision better š
@johannyvelasquez backflipping while his dad @nysecretweapon doing a backside grind on the coping @schmidtys_ramp_and_camp . Thatās gotta be such a special feeling for a father and son to be able to skate together at such a high level.
I think this was one of the first photos I captured at @schmidtys_ramp_and_camp this year so I was dusting out the cobwebs and trying to figure out how to use my equipment again lol
Despite the first photo being completely useless, the motion blur is pretty cool.

Yeep. Broke it on day 95 of my ski season. I got surgery as soon as possible and Iām glad to say, despite two collarbone surgeries and missing two months of the ski season, two weeks (Iām sending a pattern here) after surgery, I was still able to get 100 days of skiing in albeit the last five days were more ceremonial than me actually skiing the way I wanted to ski. It also reminded me how good spring skiing can be.
Being that close to such a milestone in a season, I had to take the risk just for my own personal goal. The feedback was mostly positive from people on the slopes those last five days. I took it pretty chill for the most part but also did have one mishap on the last run of day 100. Everything is good though.
I was only able to accomplish this thanks to the ridiculous, record shattering snow pack we had this ski season in Utah.
For how long this ski season has gone, itās weird to think itās basically over now. I might go out for the party days just for the hell of it and to see most of the homies one last time before we all split to our different parts of the globe for the off-season.
I didnāt think I was gonna write so much for this post as I have some other ideas for a āwrap upā reel.
If you made it this far, drop aāš½in the comments and Iāll know youāre a real one š

Still not getting that bag using my body. For the people that can make that work, more power to you. At least skiing wonāt hold judgements towards meā¦I think š
I really gotta stop adding to my drafts š¤¦š»āāļø Iām getting really annoyed at myself.
