LOMA REQS Live AT HOUSE OF NAMUS OPEN AIR FESTIVAL
@lomareqs is a daring collision of modern Kurdish poetry, electronic music, improvisation, rap, and traditional singing. Moving from ironic feminist wedding songs to raw reflections on national suppression and colonialism, they push the limits of expression.
Formed by Kurdish singer-songwriter Hêja Netirk @heja.netirk and Colombian composer/producer Rico Danta @rico.danta , LOMA REQS creates a sound that feels both ancient and futuristic. Hêja’s piercing voice, rooted in Kurdish tradition, intertwines with Danta’s beats and synthesizers to forge a sonic language of survival and resilience — transforming struggle into rhythm and memory into music.
Joined by the driving drums of Profesoro Eray Çaylı and electrified bağlama solos from Said’ê Tembûrvan, LOMA REQS arrive with the confidence of a group that sounds as if it has been shaping the future of music for decades.
Their label, Not OK Record, calls it simply:
Kurdish Acid.

“Deng” means “sound” and “bêj” means “to tell” in Kurdish. A “Dengbêj” is a traditional singer-storyteller who goes from village to village to perform Klam, meaning "words" in Kurdish, Persian, Arabic, and Turkish, yet only in Kurdish, also a song.
Hêja Netirk, a native of Kurdistan now living in exile, reimagines this tradition in a new space. Connecting to the roots with cables. She is the Dengbêj in the Disco.

Met hun debuutalbum Qemirî (“Sunburned”) combineren ze moderne Koerdische poëzie met elektronische muziek, improvisatie, rap en traditionele zang. Een sound die tegelijk oud en futuristisch voelt — ook wel: Kurdish Acid ✨
