This weekend,
@heifer_uganda joined agricultural partners, government agencies, private sector players, and exhibitors at the #harvestmoneyexpo 2026, organized by
@newvisionwire under the theme “Farming as a Business.”
Held from 28th February to 1st March, the three-day Expo was more than an exhibition for us, it was a strategic engagement platform.
Through the Expo, we connected farmers to critical agribusiness information and advisory services, while creating real market opportunities for young entrepreneurs supported under our Stimulating Agribusiness for Youth Employment #SAYE project. The event also brought together our partners, who shared insights on their continued support to smallholder farmers across Uganda.
✅Creating Real Market Opportunities
Our farmers gained first-hand experience in market engagement, strengthened their understanding of customer preferences, and built valuable business networks.
As Mercy Cheprukui, CEO of EYO Composite Porridge, shared:
“Beyond the sales I have made, I have connected with like-minded agripreneurs and built strong networks. It was also an opportunity to offer product samples and gather feedback. This will help us produce a better product.”
✅Strong Commitment from Policy Makers
The Expo was officially opened by the State Minister for Agriculture, Hon. Fred Bwino Kyakulaga, alongside diplomats from the Royal Danish Embassy and other missions. We were also honored to welcome the Right Honourable Speaker of Parliament,
@anitaannetamong
Their presence underscored a strong commitment to advancing agricultural research, strengthening market linkages, and shaping enabling policies for inclusive growth.
✅Young People at the Heart of Agribusiness
Youth participation stood out. Young innovators not only attended but actively exhibited technologies and value-added products. As our Country Director noted, agribusiness today goes beyond primary production, it spans the entire value chain, presenting significant opportunities for innovation and job creation.
