Introducing Cozy, a custom solid Sapele coffee table for some really special eggs. I had a lot of fun with the shelf on this one, how the form almost melts into itself. Separated, but not. Big thanks to the two that truly epitomize cozy, Chris + Lindsay. To know them is to love them and I am so dang grateful for them. Thanks for welcoming this little piece of me into your home 🧔 #furniture #coffeetable #sculpturaldesign #sapele #solidwoodfurniture #design #interor #interiordesign #product #productdesign #sculpture #studiofurniture #handmade #femalewoodworker

Been tinkering on an update to the Studio Heidle website, aiming to launch this February. Featuring a small online shop of homewares, alongside a ā€˜collect’ space for access to catalogued sculptural furniture pieces. Stay tuned

Howdy, I figured I’d go ahead and introduce myself. I’m Heidi, the gal behind Studio Heidle. I’m formally trained in cabinetry and joinery by way of BCIT with an industrial design degree from Emily Carr. I’ve been woodworking for nearly 10 years now, however my curiosity around making furniture dates back as far as I can remember. I’m a structural thinker who is super duper visual (sometimes painfully) - you’ll likely catch me staring into space, strategizing and thinking deeply about projects, order of operations, joints and whathaveyou. I worked as a BIM tech in the parametric architecture industry while in school, and then I designed furniture for Article for a few years. There in my last role I lead casegoods in a special research project where I designed a pretty robust casegoods standardization system, parametrically, with hopes of introducing repairability to the pretty heinous fast furniture world. Try and change it from the inside, right? Although it didn’t all get carried out, I’m really proud of the work I did there. Corporate was tough for a neurodivergent gal like me, and I’m so so so fucking hyped on being able to do what I’m doing now- making bespoke, quality furniture with intention and emotion that will hopefully outlive us all. Here we goooooo! Endlessly grateful for the love and support, nice to meet you allllllll šŸ«¶šŸ¼ . šŸ“ø @lesterlh . #industrialdesign #womeninfurniture #furnituredesign #furnituremaker #bespoke #design #sculpture #sculptor #wood #meubles #makerofthemeubles #interiordesign #interiordesigninspo #interiordesignvancouver #joiner #joinery #maker #woodworker

Artist Profile: Heidi Rey 🌟 Based in Vancouver, Heidi Rey (she/her) works at the intersection of design, craft, and sculpture, creating functional furniture that transcends traditional categorization. Rooted in a background of joinery and industrial design, their practice bridges the precision of design thinking with the intuition of handcraft and the expressive qualities of fine art. Working primarily with hardwood, Studio Heidle pieces are deeply informed by nature—particularly its quiet intelligence, organic adaptations, and the soft, rounded inflation seen in forms like wood mushrooms. These influences manifest in sculptural furniture defined by smooth contours, gentle volumes, and an inherent sense of balance. Each piece is conceived not only as an object of use, but as an emotional presence within a space. Emphasizing roundness and organic form, the work is designed to evoke calm, safety, and ease—integrating seamlessly into its environment while subtly reshaping it. Guided by a philosophy of longevity, their practice centers on creating heirloom-quality objects intended to endure. In an age of disposability, they seek to produce furniture that carries meaning across generations—pieces that are lived with, cared for, and ultimately passed down, outlasting their original context and becoming part of a continuing story.

Had a lovely chat with Stacey from @vancouvermagazine a few months back, and that lovely conversation is now published in this months magazine. I guess we call that an interview. We chatted a bit about my creative practice, of life, and about Vancouver from my perspective; brands, stores and local companies that are stand-out to me. What a pleasure indeed. Also shoutout to @officialsarahmclachlan , who once, very memorably, came to my high school production of Guys and Dolls, where grade 11 Heidi conquered her absolutely crippling fear of public speaking by playing a lead role as Adelaide. LIFE. How sweet it can be. @lesterlh on camera šŸ“ø

Loving this pairing of the soft curves of the Cozy coffee table with the harder edges of this Noguchi lamp. #interiordesign #noguchi #sculpture #sculpturaldesign #furnituremaker #bespokefurniture #joinery #womenindesign #womensupportingwomen #womenwoodworkers
