Okay, so. We've been in this band for 6 years now. We are #thebandspelledbitch (follow that link for some amazing throwbacks), and our band name is pronounced in dog language with woofs and yips and growls. Until this last weekend, we had only ever existed at @schoolofthealternative but we are slowly oh so slowly moving into the real world.
Basically a punk doo-wop band where all our songs are from the perspective of a couple of badass poodles. I'll put our band camp in the comments 🐩

BEEP BEEP please enjoy this journey 🟩in 🟢green as I do my least favorite thing: ask for help. But look - once a year, I’m going to ask you for money for SotA, this community that I love. This space that I helped shape and that has shaped me.
It’s a huge gift to be continually transformed by this work, by this community and the extensions of it in my life. We are always expanding the ways we can provide a learning space that is equitable, and caring, and radical in a response to a world that is not. But, in order to open our doors wider, it is vital that we are continually working to make it more accessible.
For our fundraising campaign this year, we are raising 3K in support of our transparent and steady growth towards becoming the radically accessible space of our ☁️collective dreams ☁️. All of the money goes towards additional scholarships, continuing Black Equity, scholarships, and increasing payments for staff and faculty.
I feel so damn lucky to have done this work along so many incredible humans who are now my top dawgs and some of my most beloved and cherished friends/family. To have had so many beautiful and hilarious and life affirming and transformative experiences alongside so many radical and engaged humans. To live in the land of affirmation for 3 weeks each year. I know it is a massive privilege to be able to take time to take part in a program like this, and we just truly/madly/deeply MUST make it so more folks can have the life-giving experience of living in this community for a few weeks every year. 🔗 is in @schoolofthealternative bio to donate
@schoolofthealternative just launched a big fundraising campaign, our first, and we’re calling it MOVING TOWARDS RADICAL ACCESSIBILITY. Chantable, right? (📣MOVING TOWARDS RADICAL ACCESSIBILITY📣, say it with me).
We’ve worked really hard on this campaign. Crafting the words you hear in this video, determining what access and equity look like for this community, and the steps to get there (this is just the beginning!).
It would mean so much to me if you would watch this video, and compliment me on the great job I did as an Adobe premiere BABY (jk: just watch and learn about SotA and our rad dreams!) It would mean even more (more than compliment y’all!!!!) if you would check out @schoolfothealtentive , and I would be overwhelmed with gratitude (and somehow end up feeling guilty about it - asking for money is so so hard) if you threw a few dollars at the campaign, if you are able.
It really is crucial that we begin to do the hard work of tearing barriers to access to spaces like this down. We are funding a better way. I’m really just BEAMING dreaming of the future we’ve imagined ✨🌹

SotA holds space for radical, communal learning in a world filled with inflexibility. We need this. You need this. Each May in the mountains, we live and work together while attending wild and deeply thoughtful, creative classes.
Since 2016, we have been wholly run by volunteers – this has kept tuition accessible and built a community that is both✨✨ artist-supported and artist-supporting. ✨✨

A few months ago I scooted everything I own down the hall to a new space and it feels strange even talking about it because I know it’s a massive privilege to have a space at all, to spend energy decorating it, to have shit to put it in, to be safe and comfortable. But, just sharing that I’ve spread out and am doing all my learning and unlearning in a slightly different address.
