This quote is often attributed to the sociologist Charles Horton Cooley and his âlooking-glass selfâ concept â Itâs mighty clever, but also a little exhausting when you try to unpack it!
The idea is that our sense of self isnât rooted in who we *think* we are, nor in how others *see* us. Instead, itâs a hall of mirrors: we define ourselves based on our interpretation of how others perceive us. In simpler terms, itâs not âI am,â or âyou think,â but âI think you think.â

Before the Intifada of Rocks, there was rock ânâ roll. In 1964, four teenage boys smuggled electric guitars into Jerusalem and formed The Flintstones, Palestineâs first rock band. With no amps, no training, and a borrowed school hall, they lit the fuse for a homegrown Beatlemania that would echo across the region for decades.
