How did it become something even pleasurable? Can self-hatred break the destructive cycle? 𝐀𝐧𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐧𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 turns its attention to a mode of unmasked self-confrontation that moves beyond the intoxication and despair of self-loathing. The exhibition willingly takes in the world’s troubles, subjects that are rejected. It affirms, supports, and condemns it. Here, self-hatred does not push away a corrupted world but attempts to face and work through its problems as if they were part of oneself. It becomes a way of enduring the world, and perhaps, a gesture that touches on a sense of justice.

PARK Heemin’s black sculptures materialize the moment when a self-contained world encounters the other’s world and forms some kind of pairing. Sculptures made primarily with urethane, silicone, charcoal, and other materials deform and modify themselves in order to become a pair. Bodies that openly reveal their defect, asymmetry, and error do not simply operate as extensions of self-love. Rather, they choose to split through self-hatred, narrowing their room for movement. Yet, this diminished and fractured self, escapes and disrupts the idea of a single individual which is institutionally defined through its indeterminate pulsation. 〈ssRNA-RT virus〉 공간 222 중앙에 위치한 네 작가의 협업작업 〈ssRNA-RT virus〉는 관람자를 작품 속으로 끌어들입니다. 김영재의 〈감염체〉 의자에 앉으면, 박희민의 〈피리〉 헤드셋을 쓰고 루씨초의 사운드 작업 〈감응〉을 듣게 됩니다. 불규칙한 호흡, 울음, 비명 같은 원초적 소리들이 귀를 통해 몸으로 흘러들며, 우리가 끊임없이 타인에게 감염되고 있음을 일깨웁니다. 마루소의 〈동체〉는 관람자의 모습을 기록하고 디지털 영상과 뒤섞으며, ‘나’라는 정체성이 언제나 흔들리고 변화하는 것임을 보여줍니다. 신청: https://forms.gle/K6vt1tgYeqofEJxt9 프로필 링크트리 참조 장소: 공간 222 (서울 성북구 동소문로 24) 〈ssRNA-RT virus〉 The collaborative work ‘ssRNA-RT virus’ is available for visitors through advance registration. - 감염-종 참여작가 박희민 실험실의 연구원이 이종 교배 실험을 하듯, 박희민은 숯, 우레탄, 실리콘 등의 검은 물질들로 검은 인간상을 만든다. 그는 짙게 검어진 인간의 기원을 ’짝‘의 부재로부터 찾는다. 그에게 ’짝‘은 불완전에서 벗어나 완전해려는 욕망이며, 대칭과 균형을 찾으려는 태도 그 자체다. 박희민이 만드는 인간상은 ’짝‘을 이루지 못했거나 이루지 않기로 결심한 자들이다. 이들은 이따금 본인의 처지에 씁쓸한 낭만과 멜랑콜리를 느끼며 자신의 모난 곳들을 괜스레 더듬어 본다. 어쩌면 박희민이 만드는 검은 인간은 불완전하고, 파편적인 ’홀‘로 서면서 불안해 하고 있을지도 모른다. 그러나 불안과 함께 이들에게서 흘러나오는 방만한 검은 유체가 바로 이들의 기원이며, 생명력이다. 《SPECIES CONTAMINANS》 Artist: Park Hee Min As if experimenting with crossbreeding in a laboratory, Park Hee Min creates black bile human figures using materials such as coal, urethane, and silicone. Park searches for the origin of these black bile humans in the absence of the ‘mate.’ For Park, the yearning for a ‘mate’ is the desire to become whole, which is an attitude seeking symmetry and balance. Park’s black bile human figures embody those who have not found their ‘mate’ or who have chosen not to have one. These figures sometimes experience bitter romance or melancholy, tracing the outline of their insecurities. Perhaps Park’s black bile human figure is bound to be incomplete, anxious in its fragmented and unaccompanied existence. - [서울시립미술관 2025 신진미술인 지원 프로그램] 《감염-종》 …그러나 죽음의 수용소와 격리실을 가만히 들여다보자. 그곳의 악취와 위험과 폭력과 절망을 뚫고 무엇이 자라나고 있는지를 바라보자. 그곳에는 벌거벗은 생명들이 뒤얽혀 서로를 감염시키고 있다. 감염은 불완전한 몸들에서 빈번하게 일어나는 하나의 상황일 뿐 아니라, 온전한 개인이라는 허상으로 둘러싸인 몸과 몸 사이 경계를 부수는 가장 근원적인 방식이다. 감염은 주체라는 환상, 분할될 수 없는 개인(individual)이라는 근대적 강령을 몰아낸다. 상호 접촉을 통해 전파되는 감염은 우리에게 몸이 살과 살로 얼기설기 이루어진 집합이라는 것을, 고통과 운명이 면역될 수 있는 개인의 것이 아니라 본질적으로 공동체적이라는 것을 일깨운다. 죽음과 삶, 감염과 면역이 정체된 채 곪아가는 이 시대, 《감염-종》은 네 명의 작가를 통해 불완전한 몸들 사이의 감염, 연대, 공생을 탐색한다. 이들은 현대 생명산업이 배양육을 길러내듯 각자 자신만의 방식으로 ‘감염-종’을 길러낸다. 그러나 이들이 추구하는 바는 살아야 하는 몸과 죽어야만 하는 몸을 선별하고 기술과 기예로 자기 개선을 실현하는 것이 아니다. 이들은 오히려 죽은 몸에 삶을, 가상에 실재를 감염시키며 죽음 정치에 저항하는 새로운 존재 가능성을 실험한다. There, bare lives intertwine and contaminate one another. Infection is a common phenomenon among imperfect bodies. However, it is also the most primal method of breaking down boundaries between bodies and dismantling the illusion of individuality. It undermines the myth of the subject and overturns the modernist tenet of the indivisible individual. Torn and hardened traces, twisted postures, and weight-bearing substances reveal emotional residues of the human experience in abstract forms. In 2025, she held her solo exhibition Odd-number, even-number at Seoul Art Space Mullae.
