World Collage Day… I’ve used collage as an art technique in one way or another for over ten years. It is a wonderful way to bring multiple narratives together. This artwork 24th July featured collaged street posters sourced from democracy protests in Syntagma Square, Athens in 2011. It was exhibited in the By George! International Biennial Art Prize exhibition in 2021. Loved making this artwork and remembering those protesters fighting for freedom. Happy World Collage Day!! #worldcollageday #collageart #greeklife

Autumn has arrived and with it the first of my series of 7 Autumn Colours collages. Inspired by the flowers in my garden using handmade papers created from recycled clothing. Each day this week I am posting a new collage in my @collagesquares account. You can also read the story of how making these collages has been a way to find joy and reactivate my art practice. After the Fires (detail) Another wet pulp painting drying in the sun. I started this paper painting five years ago at a residency with @bigciaustralia It was straight after the fires and burnt trees were everywhere in the bush. When I returned in 2021 to complete my residency - which was interrupted by COVID- the bush had started to regenerate - but the images from March 2020 stayed with me. When I got home I couldn’t recreate that atmosphere so shelved my original piece. Returning to complete it now I come with a new mindset - capturing the emotional upheaved of that time in the swirling sky, yet holding hope for trees- their regeneration and most of all their protection. A planet without trees would be disastrous - we must stand against logging native forests and stand up for the trees. #treelove #protectnature #paperpulp #handmadepaper

Trees Entangled (detail of work in progress). Sometimes you’ve got to walk away from your work in order for the right work to find you. Two paper pulp drawing/paintings have been sitting separately waiting to find each other. It’s a tree love story!! I’ve tried to find ways for each to work in other ways separately or with other pieces. However when these two trees met they just ‘clicked’. Now to bond them permanently together so they can be exhibited. #treelove #treelovers #paperpulp #handmadepaper

Canopy (WIP) Wet paper pulp drying on the screen. It’s not just trees we need it’s the canopy provided by the forests - reduces heat, produces oxygen, vibrant, alive and healing green. Part of a series of forest artworks I’m making inspired by the trees of takayna/Tarkine in Tasmania and the Moonah trees on the Mornington Peninsula. #treecanopy #forests #savethetrees #bobbrownfoundation
