Starmer’s austerity agenda is a political choice. There is no economic necessity for cuts. Instead of slashing welfare and punishing the most vulnerable, the government should tax the rich, stop scapegoating migrants and invest in public services.
Before the general election, Rachel Reeves and Angela Rayner promised the biggest wave of insourcing in a generation. They have not delivered.
