Story time
I was going Christmas shopping for a nice wooden bowl for my mom on Christmas Eve because if I didn’t procrastinate I wouldn’t get anything done. I went to an antique store in Denver and I walked inside and was overwhelmed. The pricing of everything seemed high and so I was heading out and this lady said “ can we make something happen?”. I asked if there was a back room I didn’t know about with old mixers, amps, machines etc. Curiously she said “uhh yeah we’ve got an old mixing console on the van still”. In comes this lady’s mom, the owner Mary Ann. She’s a tall, skinny, old Italian lady with short curly hair and she is a spicy meatball. She calls me green eyes, she shows me this mixer and she says “just came in, no one’s seen her. Old and dusty, old but trusty, just like me!” This thing looked rough and was covered in oil and dirt. I’m hemming and hawing. She goes “needs some loving, don’t we all?! HAHA!” I’m cracking up and freaking out because this is the pipe dream and it just burst wide open. Yamaha PM-1000, ready to be disassembled and modified into a studio workhorse.
It was the one I had just learned about a week before. I was looking online thinking man that’d be cool, but ya right. So I call up my audio engineer sensei, Wes Bane and he’s like “ya dude buy it now, it’s the cream dream!” So I say ya I’d like to buy it, she says “ya I’ll sell you this mixer if you sell me your pants” uhhh…she tells me $300. Yes plz. I’m checking out (I got a nice wooden bowl too, love you mom) and they say “wow that’s fate! You asked for it and we literally just received this a few hours ago.“ I go home and it fires right up. I can’t believe it, did I manifest this? So I told the boys about it and Kris is like “it’s Kismet” and I’m like “is that a different language?” And he says “no it’s a different word!” I love words! Since then I’ve seen the word Kismet several times. Frequency illusion! Aha!
