At school, we are taking climate action and making our community more sustainable!🌍♻️✨ This week, we were excited to launch our new recycling bins across the school. Classrooms now have separate bins for recycling and general waste, along with special bottle-shaped bins for plastic bottle recycling. We have also introduced paper recycling bins next to the printers in every department to help reduce waste and encourage recycling throughout the school. Miss Scott, Miss Pointing, and Miss Turney have also been hard at work improving sustainability in our T Block garden. They are currently planting flowers, fruit, and vegetables to create a greener outdoor space for everyone to enjoy. So far, they have planted flowers in small pots in T10, in preparation for being planted outside soon. The garden has also been upgraded with a new water butt, compost bin, bee hotel, and four large wooden planters ready for our plants.🐝🌸🍓 We’re excited to continue making positive changes for our environment and creating a more sustainable future!🌱 #TeamHeanor

We are proud to be supporting Mr Lambert (Deano) and his incredible charity walk as he raises money to create precious memories with his family following his sarcoma diagnosis.🫶 Today, Deano and his mates set off on their journey from One Call Stadium, Mansfield, to Villa Park, Birmingham. Over the next three days, they’ll be taking on this amazing challenge, finishing in Birmingham on Sunday. Mr Lambert was a hugely valued part of our school community from 2020–2022, working as a Learning and Progress Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, and Assistant Achievement Leader. It was wonderful to see so many of his former students, including current sixth formers and past pupils, come together today to show their support.🙌 A special thank you to everyone who came along to support, and especially to one of our former pupils for helping spread the word and bring this fantastic group together. Wishing Deano and the team the very best of luck for the rest of the walk. We’re all behind you!💙 If you'd like to donate and read more about this wonderful cause, please follow this link to Dean's GoFundMe page - https://gofund.me/02622e6cd

Road Closure Notice – Adale Road, Ilkeston🚗⚠ We have been informed that Adale Road, Ilkeston, will be closed for resurfacing works from Tuesday 12 May 2026 for approximately two days. This closure may affect school drop-off and collection arrangements during this period. We kindly ask all parents and carers to: - Please be considerate of local residents and avoid blocking or parking across driveways. - Avoid using Kirkley Drive for drop-offs and collections where possible, as heavy parking can make the road unsafe, particularly at the end of the school day. - Where possible, use alternative parking locations and allow extra time for your journey. Thank you for helping to keep our students and local community safe during these works. #TeamHeanor

This afternoon, Mr Bentley and Mr Jones held a special assembly for Year 11 to wish students the very best ahead of their first full year-group exam on Monday and the start of the exam season for the rest of the term.✨🍀🙌 Students were reminded of key messages to help them stay focused and confident, and enjoyed ice cream during their intervention sessions as a well-earned boost.🍦 At the end of the assembly the students received letters they had written to themselves back in Year 7. A fantastic opportunity to reflect on how far they have come and all they have achieved so far.🥰☺️ #TeamHeanor
