Preparation goes a long way to helping you feel confident in front of the camera.
And we're not just talking about what clothes to bring with you. Before a session, we plan exactly what you want to achieve with these professional photos. Who is your audience and what do you need to say to them in the images? That way we have a strong external focus, and a distraction from any nerves you may be feeling!
It's so much more than just a professional photo.
From the moment we meet I'm looking to see how you come across, the energy and enthusiasm you speak with, what you appear passionate about and full understand there is a layer of nerves masking all of this.
That initial conversation is vital to getting us into the studio, getting settled in each other's company so that when we start taking photos we feel familiar and connected. And this process occurs fairly rapidly and with ease and is regularly reflected in client reviews.

Well, if a headshot is your first impression, then I think this is a pretty good one!
For Josh working in property, building trust quickly is essential. He needs to reassure potential clients that he is friendly, approachable and committed to working hard for you. And when summarised like this, you could argue that is the goal for everyone involved in running a business.
So how are you making a first impression? Is it authentic to you and your personality? Does it strike a balance of who you are like to work with and reassure you can handle any difficult conversations when needed? All this we can tell our audience in a single head and shoulders photo.

Behind the scenes video is the secret key to showing what truly happens in a headshot session, because first and foremost I need to ensure I'm creating a safe space.
You'll find I'm always looking to empower whoever is in front of the camera and fully guide them through the process. And if you look closely enough you can see my brain cogs turning thinking about the camera settings, lighting position, background and everything else that pulls together to create an awesome photo of you.
What do you reckon, does a photoshoot look exciting, or daunting?!
This morning I was reading Tom Stansfield's Business Growth 101 - a book designed to be opened at any page and get value from.
We worked together on a photoshoot that was eventually used as the front cover image.
One of his thoughts that jumped out to me today was "If everything is a priority, nothing is" to which he goes on to explain that we often have too many ideas and things we are trying to achieve that realistically most things end up unfinished with no clear measure of success.
I'm often parking ideas for growing business or marketing content, but the 'back of the mind' list is where those ideas remain.
Instead, he advises focusing on the one thing that would have the most impact today, and start working towards that.

It's been one of those weeks...
Where you just sit back, sip a coffee, and think "I love this".
There has been a great range of projects from studio headshots, to filming a promotional video, editing catch up sitting comfortably at home with the dogs, and getting back into the gym after marathon two weeks ago!
