Reading period is now in full swing. To ease stress for students (and anyone else in the HDS community) during this hectic time, the library will welcome Norah and Sophie, certified therapy dogs! They will visit today, May 5, 2026, 2-3:00. In honor of their visit, we found some additional canine companions in this book describing animals in the bible from 1834. #LibrariesofInstagram #dogs #RareBooks #TherapyDogs #Libraries Harvard

Happy New Year! For our January Staff Pick, Nell was excited to share a recent discovery from the stacks. It is a 16th century figurative map depicting the continent of Asia as a winged horse. Happy Halloween! We’ve been driven batty with delight for this little fellow who is found presenting an image of chaos in this richly illustrated late 17th century Dutch book by Willem Goeree [SPEC 342 Goeree]. We have decided this guy is part possum and part Grampa Munster. #bat #illustration #engraving #rarebooks #dutch #halloween

We’re starting a new series of staff picks! Starting off is Alex from Research Services. While working on an unrelated copy request for correspondence in the Paul Tillich papers, Alex came across the folder of correspondence between Paul Tillich and President John F. Kennedy! The folder contains various letters, but Alex wanted to highlight this specific one where JFK thanks Tillich for an inaugural gift. Peep JFK’s signature! To learn more about Paul Tillich, one of the most influential theologians of the 20th century, click the link in our bio to explore the finding aid and explore the hundreds of boxes available for research! . . . #hdslstaffpicks #archives #paultillich #jfk #johnfkennedy #letters #librarylife

To commemorate Juneteenth, we invite you to explore our Jordan Neighborhood House photographs collection. Originally established as a Universalist mission in 1897 and later renamed for minister Jordan Fletcher Jordan, the Jordan Neighborhood House became a vital space—offering education, healthcare, and community support to African American residents in the area. View the full collection through the link in our bio. . . . @theuuassociation #Juneteenth #Harvard #Libraries
