Outstanding Student Success ⚔️
Congratulations to Aiden Lee (Year 10) on an incredible series of achievements in fencing. Aiden placed 3rd at the NSWFA Schools Individual Competition yesterday, continuing his outstanding form on the state stage.
Adding to this success, Aiden will compete in the NSW School League as part of a Hybrid Team beginning next week — a fantastic opportunity to continue developing his skills against strong competition.
Most impressively, Aiden has also been selected to represent Australia at the 2026 Commonwealth Fencing Championships in Nigeria this August. An outstanding honour and a testament to his hard work, commitment and dedication to the sport.
We are incredibly proud of Aiden and wish him every success in the months ahead. 🇦🇺⚔️
A morning of reflection, heart, and community at our latest College Assembly. 🌿
Our young men came together last week to honour several significant causes that sit at the core of our College identity. We paused to observe National Sorry Day, acknowledging our history with respect and looking toward a future built on reconciliation and understanding.
The spirit of service was also alive as we launched our annual Vinnies Winter Appeal and showed our support for ‘Grey for May’ in the fight against brain cancer. Witnessing our students translate empathy into tangible action reflects the character of the compassionate young men we strive to form, those ready to lead with kindness and serve those in need.

After four weeks of Winter Sport, there’s been no shortage of effort, teamwork and school spirit across Netball, Football and Rugby League.
From tough contests to great team performances, it’s been fantastic to see our students representing Holy Cross with pride every week. A great collection of action shots capturing the commitment and energy shown across all sports so far this season.

Sport @HCCRyde – Week Wrap 🏆
A terrific day out for our Football squads today, with 6 wins from 7 matches against Corpus Christi Maroubra and Christian Brothers Lewisham. ⚽️
Special mention once again to our Junior A and Inter A teams who continue to build strongly heading into two huge weeks of competition and finals football.
In Rugby League, we recorded 2 wins and 2 losses against Patrician Brothers Blacktown. 🏉 First Grade used the match as an important opportunity to fine tune combinations, and we thank Patrician Brothers for their support in making the fixture possible. Our Under 14A side went down narrowly, while the 16A team secured a hard-fought 4-point victory in a torrid contest.
Our All Abilities Oztag teams both celebrated victories, while Mixed Netball once again enjoyed a strong afternoon, winning 4 of 6 games in combination with Marist Sisters Woolwich. 🏐

Faith In Action ✝️
On Wednesday, three of our senior students took part in special formation and training to become Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. This important ministry provides our students with the opportunity to serve God, support our liturgical celebrations and play an active role within both the College and wider parish community.
It was wonderful to see the boys embrace this opportunity with maturity, reverence and pride as they continue to grow as young men of faith and service. We congratulate them on taking this significant step in their faith journey and thank them for their willingness to lead by example within our community.

🏉 Schoolboy Cup – Round 2 🏉
Holy Cross College Ryde will travel to the ACT on June 2 to take on the might of Erindale College, a regular top four contender in the Schoolboy Cup competition.
It promises to be another huge challenge for our boys, with the result set to play a major role in shaping the season ahead. The squad will look to rise to the occasion and represent the maroon and gold with pride, toughness and discipline. 💪

Our College community came together today for ‘Beanies for Byrnsey Day’, honouring the memory of our beloved Mr Michael Byrne. It was a moving sight to see our students and staff trade their formal uniforms for beanies and mufti, all in support of the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse.
The highlight of the day was the historic Staff vs Students match at lunch! In a testament to the friendly competition Mr Byrne loved so much, the game ended in an unprecedented draw. A truly special result for a truly special day of remembrance. 🤝
A huge thank you to everyone who made a foldable donation today. ‘Grey for May’ badges will continue to be on sale for $5 throughout the month for those who wish to keep supporting the cause.
