4 years!! 🤯 That’s how long it had been since I last sang lead for an R&B show. Where did the time go?!? I’ve been touring with a band, working in churches, teaching and became greatly acquainted with the CCM industry as a background vocalist. Although I truly value and enjoy what I’ve been doing, I haven’t made the time to tap into my own music and love for R&B, neo-soul & jazz until recently.
This clip is from the @backbeatmusic showcase, my first lead vocal R&B show since 2021. I had a lot of music to learn, and many of the songs were brand new to me — including “Neither One of Us.” I didn’t expect it, but in this moment on stage, I fell in love with the song as I was singing it. Gladys gave us a gift with this one.
This is a new season for me — a return to myself, creating from a place of authenticity instead of how I think I should be seen. As I step deeper into my artistry, songwriting, and sharing more of my journey, I hope you’ll come along.
And yes… there’s more to come. An R&B show is already on the calendar and I may sing some new unreleased music 👀🤭
