Short story for the weekend, anyone?
'I Saw The Face Of God In A Summer Sky'.... it's about growing up in the shadow of the Cold War, about the terrors of impending adulthood, about a hallucinogenic religious experience on a suburban school cricket pitch.
Fresh on the Haunted Generation website...

If you'd like two hours of me discussing Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads, Gregory's Girl, the hoofprints beneath Devil's Bridge in Acklam, BBC Micros in the TARDIS, Stand By Me and all kinds of other splendid flim-flam, then today - quite frankly - is your lucky day. Thanks @mabeymediaarchive for inviting me onto his Channel Hopper podcast...

A bit unseasonal, but a while ago I had a nice chat with Dean & Britta and Pete "Sonic Boom" Kember about the lovely Christmas album they made. Written for @electronicsoundmag , but it's now fresh on the Haunted Generation website. Also features Lou Reed, Delia Derbyshire, Jem & The Holograms...

Radio fans may recall my love of Yorkshire post-punk synth-folk combo Rudolf Rocker. I took afternoon tea in York recently with the original line-up, now reformed... so that's @rockygoodall , Steve Goodall and Jeremy Dyson (yes, him).
We discussed shed maintenance, the importance of the Leeds Waterstones in their musical journey, the inspiration behind Creme Brulee's Voodoo Lady (it's actually Rudolf Rocker, and Janice Long is involved) and we mulled over their utterly ace new album Rocker's Revenge.
It's all in the current @electronicsound.bsky.social (with apologies to Steve and Jeremy, who are obscured by my sweater sleeve here)
Great weekend at Whitby's Hand Of Glory folklore festival, although I've had to do a lot of sleeping since I got home. Thanks everyone who came, and to all who performed - it was ace. Here's myself and @scarredforlifebook 's Ste Brotherstone asking an important question late on Friday night.
Free folklore festival in Whitby this weekend! With added Scarred For Life Folk Horror from myself and Stephen Brotherstone at 9pm tonight. I'm setting off soon and am very excited about it all.
It's Bandcamp Friday! If you're in the mood for a bit of weird, retro-flavoured drama, please give our @mulgrave_audio releases a listen... we're probably the only company in the world to have worked with both Valerie Singleton and Belbury Poly.
Free folklore festival in Whitby all weekend! Friday to Sunday, please come and join us... spoken word and music from a league of great performers. I'm MC-ing all weekend, and tomorrow at 9pm myself and Ste Brotherstone will be doing the @scarredforlifebook Folk Horror show...
More 1988 artwork from our old Dungeons and Dragons campaigns around Neil Braithwaite's kitchen table. You used to see sun-bleached skulls and circling vultures all the time on the Levendale estate.
