Premium knitwear, but make it Houndsome 😍
A delight to bring these merino turtleneck’s to life alongside the creative masters at @houndsome.dog .
It’s not every day in the studio that we get to do a fit session with VIP’s of this calibre 🐕- What. A. Treat.
Stunning top pics by Houndsome. The rest by us just recording the pleasure of this process.
Get those pups rugged up right!
Last week we were recognised by @ebayaustralia , @ausfashioncouncil and a committee of fashion industry leaders in sustainability for our approach to the circular economy.
We are very excited for @shopfront.ig as the overall winner and also our co-runner-up @hellotailr .
This fund will help us develop our (almost) no-waste manufacturing practice, our high value recycling project and our new repair and reuse program - that we will be talking more about soon.
We at @hatchandmake and our in-house label @brood.au are hugely thankful to the wonderful and supportive teams at @ebayau and @@ausfashioncouncil for the program and the ongoing support.
We are delighted to share our Brood | Studio Session event as part of the PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival’s Independent Programme.
Join us on February 28 from 4-8pm for a relaxed afternoon. There’ll be a studio tour, collection preview, machine demos, special offers and an opportunity to connect.
Register now via the link in bio.

Some process captures of the gorgeous little vests we worked on earlier this year with @shrunk_store
The development process is considered and iterative. Things don’t always work the first time. Sometimes we’ll go down a pathway that will never see the light. But those steps are important. We learn from them. They demonstrate challenges we may not have considered and give way to new ideas. A worthy and collaborative process that we don’t always consider has been undertaken with the garments we wear.
We have plans to incorporate a range of high quality fibres in our work… but we’ve been taking things slowly. And we are happily committed to that approach.
Since we opened our doors in 2021, we have starred one key fibre in collections for our brand partners. A beautiful high quality merino wool that has been responsibly sourced from trusted suppliers.
Wool is an incredible fibre, with insulating and cooling properties, a luxuriously soft handle and huge potential for regenerative practices across its life cycle.
With endless applications and product potential, paired with advanced methods of manufacturing, knitting responsible and premium wool products in Australia makes sense - and we are stoked to be doing it! 🧶
We work with two industrial knitting machines. They each have their own distinct capabilities that dictate design boundaries…and opportunities.
We open our studio doors at @hatchandmake to anyone interested in a peek behind the scenes on Fridays.
Where | Hatch+make Studio, 20A William Street East, Lilydale
When | Friday’s, 3pm-6pm.

Special little shout out to this team player on his birthday. We didn’t get you a present but we’ll do this doting shout into the void, which you won’t see because you don’t have Instagram (little indicator of age without having to name it..)
Our resident keeper of order, fit model, toddler entertainer, meticulous knitter/linker/cup seamer/steamer and master of spreadsheets.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NIGEL!!! We’re lucky to have ya. 🎈
