Here are a few shots of Miqdaad Fatakdawala on site at the Sound Transit project, where our team recently completed track integrity work using Hatch Enhanced Track Assessment (HETA).
HETA allows us to continuously assess track isolation performance, moving beyond traditional sectionalized measurements. It’s a proprietary approach that helps detect stray current leakage and early signs of degrading track isolation, enabling timely insight into overall electrical track health.
We’re excited to bring HETA’s capabilities to transit systems around the world, helping rail operators identify stray current corrosion early and address issues before they become costly.
Meet Igor Brugnara, a Structural Engineer from our Belo Horizonte office! 💫
He specializes in the design of reinforced concrete structures and brings over two years of experience working on residential construction sites, where he was involved in every phase of delivery, from foundations through to project handover.
Igor is responsible for the structural design of steel and concrete systems, including foundations and seismic design. His work combines practical, on‑site experience with detailed engineering analysis to deliver safe, efficient, and constructible solutions.

The Crosslake Connection is now open for passenger service, completing the final link of Sound Transit’s 2 Line and bringing rail service across Lake Washington for the first time.
The new service links the east and west sides of the lake with the world’s first light rail operating on a floating bridge, creating a fully integrated transit system across the region.
With two new stations at Mercer Island and Judkins Park, the network now spans 63 miles and provides frequent service that strengthens east–west mobility and reduces travel times for riders.
We are proud to have contributed our expertise to a project that blends innovation, engineering excellence, and long-term regional impact. This achievement reflects years of collaboration and a shared commitment to building reliable, sustainable transit solutions that connect communities and support future growth.

#Throwback to our panel session titled “Cracking the Copper Code” which we hosted during #PDAC2026 last week. We were joined by industry leaders who explored the sector’s most pressing challenges, from geopolitical shifts to commercial risk, and highlighted the technological advancements shaping the future of copper.
Together, we shared strategic perspectives on navigating a supply-constrained future and the growing importance of responsible, resilient, and technology-driven copper production.

Public procurement is one of the most powerful tools shaping Ontario’s innovation ecosystem. When used strategically, it strengthens domestic companies, grows Ontario’s talent base, and ensures that key capabilities and intellectual property remain truly Canadian.

A big day for clean energy in the UK!
We joined Geothermal Engineering Ltd (GEL) to celebrate the opening of the nation’s first deep geothermal power plant and lithium carbonate facility at United Downs, an important step toward strengthening Europe’s battery‑materials supply.
Hatch designed the lithium demonstration plant and supported GEL through testing, engineering, and construction. The site will produce 100 tpa of lithium carbonate with plans to scale significantly, while also generating geothermal power for 10,000 homes.
