Looking for ways to make money as a musician? Here are 4 of my favourite methods, all tried and tested for many MANY years 💰🎸 I’ve also ranked them all by how good they are, in my opinion!
Method 1: Busking (performing in the street) which I did for about 4 years from age 12 to 16 and used to earn between £15-£30 an hour doing it, sometimes more, sometimes less!
Method 2: Session musician work. I’ve helped people write songs, played guitar on peoples songs, written solos, and also booked drummers and bassists etc. It can be hard to break into, but a great way to make a good day rate!
Method 3: Getting your music in film, TV and adverts. I’ve had a few of these now and some are big, some are small. But they keep paying years on, even if only small amounts, plus, you’ve already done the work! 🙏
Method 4: Releasing cover songs. This can actually open doors for Method 3 too! I’ve had a bit of success with cover songs myself and seen people earn crazy money covering the right songs. But make sure you release them via @distrokid so that all the licenses and royalty shares are in place 🫡
