Deep boredom is the ultimate state of mental relaxation

Deep boredom is Benjamin‘s “dream bird”, a “warm, gray cloth with a dazzling, colorful lining inside”, “when we dream, we are wrapped in it”, and we are in “the arabesque pattern on its lining, feeling familiar and comfortable”.
In the merit society, we may have escaped Foucault’s disciplinary society, but we have fallen into a new spiritual discipline, self-exploiting in excessive enthusiasm, as if we have become Nietzsche‘s “unman” (the last man) who can only work, and at the bottom, we are anxious, tired, and self-collapse.
Boredom makes us uneasy. In the moments that should be quiet, we find that fragmented and short-term stimulation will fill the emptiness in boredom. Little do we know that new things will be produced in boredom, and only repeat or accelerate existing things. Contemplative concentration is produced in the moment of boredom.
If the highest form of physical relaxation is said, then the ultimate state of mental relaxation is extreme boredom…
