Sure, you will drink more that you thought you should, eat more than you thought you could and sleep less than you wanted but… at the end of the day, the main memory, will be the people.
People you call friends, people that you just met, people that you see once a year and people that you see every day. You will have a few words in the middle of the chaos, you will have a passing hug and you know that there is a good chance that you will wait another year for another encounter, but it’s worth it!
I think the older and busier I get in life I treasure those moments more and more…
What is happiness anyway other than those fleeting moments of joy and warmth.

Cocktails have a story to tell, and bartenders are their raconteurs. The names are often strange, and the origins of those names are stories in themselves.
Their histories are often rooted in ancient times, but mostly we know cocktails as icons of early twentieth century sophistication, the style we associate with Prohibition, Speakeasies and Hollywood films. Cocktails are ever a symbol of elegance and refined celebration. The classic cocktail is always a mixture of distilled alcohol, associated with either : citrus juice, vermouth, liqueurs, sugar and bitters... But the allure is not in the ingredients so much as the special moment that a cocktail evokes. A time, a place, an occasion, a mood, the people with whom you shared that moment. Maybe the bartender too.

And our last but in no way least finalist form last weeks Metaxas Competition for the UK is the man, the legend …. Paul Mineaaaaa!!!
Paul is one of the most experienced competitors I know. He has travelled the world with the skills to pay the bills. It is funny that if he won our competition he would not be able to travel to Greece because he will be participating on a different global comp.
In any way his presentation was both emotional and funny and he brought the rhythm when he started blasting Greek music by a small speaker he had with him causing probs the biggest applause in the comp.
His drink “Grapes” gets inspiration by the Dionysian festivities and more specifically the wine that was the center of all of them.

Sloe Gin
Black grapes and blackberry cordial
Cocchi barolo chinato
Luxardo maraschino
Tannins !
It looked and was served as a beautiful bottle of wine!

This Tuesday the 17th of September @kiki_dacht Kyriaki Dachtyloudi will be leaving the secret location of the Spy Bar in @raffleslondon.theowo and will be taking over Tabula Rasa in Leeds @tabularasa_bar .

What a wonderful night yesterday in @theministry.london where the tastiest of aquavits @nuetaquavit lead by the remarkable @greggybar and his amazing UK counterpart @jwlovellhewitt brought the immense talent of @rausbar in Trondheim for a one night takeover in London!
@sondremsolli and @lassesjaa (mainly pictured in the video because he was making my drinks… apologies Sondre) brought a strong game with some spectacular drinks that if you didn’t make it down yesterday may have to travel a few miles to taste in the future.
Huge thanks to all of you and of course the team of @boozevivant from Ministry for their amazing hospitality!
