The 2025 legislative session ended this week, it was a busy six months! I passed 32 bills working towards a safer, more equitable, and stronger New York. It is an honor to work for the people and families of my district. More information on the wins for our community to come!
What a beautiful day to come together as a community! I had a great time marching in the Henrietta Memorial Day Parade today β and with weather like this, it felt like a fitting tribute to all who served and sacrificed for our great nation. #MemorialDay πΊπΈ
Last night, my office was proud to celebrate our 2026 Women of Distinction recipients. With a record 49 nominees, the evening was a powerful reminder of the talent, heart, and commitment that make Rochester such a wonderful community to call home. Thank you to East High School for being a great host β and the students for their excellent catering. To all the nominees β thank you for setting such an inspiring example for future generations to follow. More photos to come in the near future. @laura_sharp_photography@jennscookiecreations@flowercityphotowalls
May is National Military Appreciation Month β a time to honor the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of our servicemembers, veterans, and military families. Thank You.
Spent part of my morning connecting with high school robotics students from across New York State β young innovators who traveled to Albany to share their work and remind us all why STEAM education matters. Watching their passion and ingenuity up close is exactly why investing in education isn't just important β it's essential. These students aren't waiting for tomorrow β they're building it today! π½#STEAMDay #NextGenNY #RoboticsForAll
Great to join my brothers and sisters of labor at today's NYS Laborers Legislative Conference in Albany. As Chair of the Assembly Labor Committee, I'm proud of the strong, collaborative relationships I've built with labor leaders across our state β advocates who work every day to uphold and strengthen New York's proud labor standards.
Now more than ever, we must stand together to confront economic uncertainty, skyrocketing costs, and the reckless treatment of workers coming out of Washington. New York will always fight for its workers. πͺ #laborersrising #nylabor
Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers, grandmothers, and caregivers who give so much every day. Your love and strength shape our families and communities. Enjoy your Day. π
Proud to stand alongside my #LGBTQ+ siblings and allies this week in Albany as we rally against federal funding cuts and threats to our community's rights. As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I am committed to fighting alongside my transgender, gender nonconforming, and non-binary siblings in the fight to protect their right to live as their authentic selves. New York State must step up and provide the statutory policy, provisions and funding to meet the needs of our community to ensure we stay true to the ideal that no matter who you are, where you come from, what your abilities, who you love, or how you identify β we all have dignity and deserve equity, justice and opportunity. π³οΈβπ
Weβre halfway through #TeacherAppreciationWeek! To every teacher in our community β thank you for the long hours, the endless patience, and the real difference you make in every childβs lives every single day. Drop a β€οΈ to celebrate a teacher who inspired you! πβοΈ
Proud to join advocates and fellow lawmakers today to call for HIV Emergency Shelter Allowances to be included in the FY2027 state budget. There exists stark and persistent disparities between people living with HIV who have stable housing and those who do not.
Up to 2,800 New Yorkers living with HIV outside NYC are being denied this support. The Rest of State bill I carry with Senator April Baskin would expand the HIV Emergency Shelter Allowance to counties outside NYC at no new cost to the state.
As we face unprecedented challenges posed by actual and threatened federal funding cuts and attacks, there has never been a more important time for New York State to sustain and advance our efforts to end HIV as an epidemic. #hivhousing
May is Mental Health Awareness Month β a time to reflect, listen, and lift each other up. π Too many of our neighbors, family, and friends suffer in silence because of fear and stigma. Letβs work to end that through conversations, compassion, and commitment. Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. This month and every month, know you are not alone. #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters
