As part of the rich sporting culture at Harrow, inspirational talks are offered to Harrovians. This week Jason Roy, an Ex England International Cricket Player, spoke about how confidence is not about never failing, but about continuing to believe in yourself when things are difficult. That hard work matters far more than quick success, and that setbacks, criticism, and pressure are things everyone faces, even elite athletes. These talks go beyond just sport, and are about resilience, handling expectations, backing yourself, or simply understanding that success is rarely a straight line. #sport #inspirationaltalks

Peter Danenberg, Senior Software Engineer at Google DeepMind, talked about “AI and Education: Using Powerful Tools Wisely,” and explored the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence in education. Peter's short keynote was followed by a lively Q&A session, allowing boys to engage directly with his views on how AI can support learning, creativity and scholarship while also raising questions about misuse, over-reliance and academic integrity. His background in both AI and Classics gave the event a distinctive interdisciplinary flavour, including discussion of how AI might be used in relation to ancient languages. We believe that introducing the boys to a diverse range of inspirational and outstanding thinkers while they are at Harrow gives them the best possible grounding for their future lives. #inspirational #artificialintelligence

A particular highlight of this year's Harrow Fringe was a series of improv performances showcasing great courage and wit from boys from the Shell all the way to the Upper Sixth. The Classics department also made a notable contribution, delivering assured and articulate recitations of Greek and Latin verse and drama, and demonstrating the enduring power of these works in performance. #harrowfringe #drama #ryantheatre

The 2026 game against Eton was another excellent contest with Harrow winning the toss and choosing to bat first. Congratulations to the Harrow team who won this year's match by 80 runs. Huge thanks to the MCC for their generous hospitality; it is always a privilege and an honour to play at Lord’s. On 20 June 1805, a simple invitation was sent by Harrow: "The gentlemen of Harrow School request the honour of trying their skill at cricket with the gentlemen of Eton, on Wednesday July 31 at Lord's Cricket Ground. A speedy answer, declaring whether the time and place be convenient, will oblige." #Cricket #HarrowEton #MCC #HarrowSchoolSport

We welcomed Dulwich, RGS Guildford, St Benedict’s, Coopers Coborn, St Albans, St Paul’s and St Edward’s to Harrow for our flagship fixture, the Guy Butler Shield. The depth of competition and the hard‑fought battles across both track and field events made for an exciting day. Harrow retained the Guy Butler Shield with a sterling team performance. Both School and meeting records were broken, and all boys showed grit and determination to ensure that every point counted. Outstanding performances and records* broken on the day: *Junior 4x100m - Dim, Tise, Jojo, Andi - 46.37 *Inter Javelin – Hugo - 54.70m Senior High Jump – Wisdom - 1.90m *Senior 1500m – Henry - 3:53.35 *Senior Triple Jump – Tito - 14.53m #athletics #GuyButlerShield

It has been an exceptionally successful year for our boys, and the number and the quality of their US and Canadian university offers easily places Harrow among the most successful schools in the UK in this respect. • 70 applicants to US universities • 179 offers from US universities • 31 offers from Ivy League schools • 17 boys with offers from Ivy League schools Many of the offers from US universities are accompanied by very generous (up to 100%) financial packages in the form of bursaries and scholarships. This makes it our most successful applications round ever with the highest number of US university offers and the highest number of offers from Ivy Leagues schools, including boys with more than three Ivy League schools' offers.  #brightfutures #academicexcellence

We would like to congratulate Rupert on being selected for the Ireland Climbing Team. An incredible achievement. Over the past year, Rupert has shown outstanding dedication and talent — placing 6th nationally out of 1,000 athletes and recently finishing 4th among 120 of the country’s top climbers, competing alongside Team GB athletes in the final. A fantastic milestone and just the beginning. #HarrowSchoolSport #Climbing #HardWork #Proud

The Shepherd Churchill Dining Hall was officially re-opened by Old Harrovian Mark Mosimann (Bradbys 1990³) of Mosimann's, one of the most prestigious private dining clubs in the world. Food is an integral part of Harrow's daily culture. Emphasis is put on quality and variety and especially healthy, nutritious food. The refurbished space overlooks the Capability Brown designed grounds and lake, with stunning views of London in the distance. The catering team, who prepare and cook over 3,000 meals a day from scratch, are excited to be working in such inspiring surroundings. #Food #healthyliving #OldHarrovians #inspiringsurroundings

During the Easter break, Murray took part in an eight-day national Army Cadet music training camp in Northumberland. Joining over 450 cadets from battalions across the country, they had lessons throughout the day as well as hearing talks from serving soldiers, which gave a useful insight into military music and careers. The camp culminated with a final parade, where the different bands had the chance to perform what they had been working on throughout the week in front of the commandant, as well as friends and families.  #music #armycadet #careers

At the end of a week that included 48 individual House matches, Druries (Yearlings), Moretons (Torpids), and Rendalls (Seniors) won their respective tournaments. The Senior and Torpid finals both went to dramatic penalty shootouts, with the former going to sudden death. It was wonderful to see the boys giving their all for their Houses and the tremendous fellowship on show throughout the afternoon. #soccer #harrow.school.sport #Housematches

Twenty-four Harrovians competed to retain the title of Independent Schools Judo Champions 2026 for a second consecutive year. In the lightweight pool Harrow took three of the four medals. In the middleweight pool another bronze and in the Intermediates gold medals in the lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight categories. Despite this we were trailing and looked to the seniors in the afternoon. Tristan won gold in the middleweight category, Bomi gold in the light heavyweight division and Grisha gold in the heavyweight, a crucial victory over our main rivals. Combined showcase groups gave Torry, Ilyas and Claudius, additional gold medals. In the best ten medal count Harrow finished with seven golds and three silvers giving Harrow victory by two points. Congratulations to the team on retaining the title, and for their composure and sporting conduct throughout. #judo #teamspirit

It is 50 years since Harrow's Old Speech Room Gallery was established and, to mark the occasion, a new book has been published, The Old Speech Room Gallery: A Collection Revealed. The launch of the book took place at the end of last term where guests were also treated to the unveiling of Lord Byron's dressing case which has recently been donated to the Gallery. Home to an exquisite and extensive collection of antiquities and fine art, the Gallery also provides a valuable resource for Harrovians to learn about object handling, conservation, documentation and collections care and to help research, design, curate and advertise exhibitions. At the launch, Old Harrovian Timothy Bentinck MBE (Moretons 1966³) spoke of the inspiring collections of the OSRG and the new book which features some of the most remarkable treasures. We would like to thank the Leventis and Murray families for their sponsorship of the book and the many contributors for their personal anecdotes and recollections. Former English Beak and House Master of The Park, Peter Hunter, then introduced the OSRG exhibition Fifty Years On: The Evolving Collection 1976-2026. #OldSpeechRoomGallery #LordByron #OldHarrovians
