Over the last years, I realised how naturally and precisely I can do most of my mastering work on headphones. Even though I always double-check on speakers, the key decisions usually happen on cans.
That’s why I’m extremely proud to share that HarmonyMastering is now working with the Empyrean 2 by @mezeaudio !
Sonically, the Empyrean 2 are truly inspiring: incredibly clear, honest and detailed, almost surgical, yet never fatiguing. They combine precision with the warm, inviting feeling of a great hi-fi system. And thanks to their light weight and comfort, I can work for hours without even noticing I’m wearing headphones.
The craftsmanship is stunning – from the hybrid array drivers to the fiberglas casing, the leather pads and the braided copper cable. Every element feels refined and thoughtfully engineered.
The first time I listened to the Empyrean 2 – both in the past and now with my own pair – I was genuinely moved. Songs I’ve heard hundreds of times reached me so deeply that I actually couldn’t hold back a few tears.
And that’s ultimately what matters most in my mastering process: allowing music to connect emotionally in the strongest and most truthful way.
When a system enables me to feel that, I know I have everything I need — and the Meze Empyrean 2 deliver exactly that.
Welcome to HarmonyMastering!
Took me more time than expected - but finally I’m able to officially open the door of the new studio space.
It’s always magical to build something and then see the final result.
For sure a new room is also something scary - but it already feels welcoming and cozy.
Big changes with a bigger & more open room, as well as a smaller setup with the new desk by @curuxacustoms (which I can highly recommend by the way!).
And for sure I couldn’t build another studio without some moss!
Thanks to everyone who was involved in the process, whether it’s been on the actual build, the calculation or the mental support!
To countless hours of listening to beautiful music in here & having a great time with you in attended sessions.
Can’t wait to spend time in this room with your projects.
Cheers,
Jan

The PMC6 have officially moved into the studio. I’ve been drawn to PMC’s design philosophy and their ATL technology for a longer time now, and at some point it became clear that my trusty Focals could no longer keep up and had to make room for the next step.
While I’m still completely in love with my Meze Empyrean II and consider them a very strong personal reference, I don’t want to rely on headphones alone. The PMC6 now bring me much closer on speakers to what I’m hearing on the Meze, which was exactly what I was looking for.
The level of detail is exceptional, the low end is precise and controlled, and the overall sound feels natural and comfortable to work with. The built-in DSP also offers further options to adapt the speakers to the room, which will be the next step.
I’m very excited to start 2026 with this new setup.
2025 is slowly coming to an end.
So I wanna take a moment to thank everyone who trusted me with their vision, their passion and their art.
I also wanna thank my friends & colleagues for many inspiring, honest and exciting conversations.
Being part of so many creative journeys this year has been a privilege!
Wishing everyone a great new chapter - to even more music that move us!
Cheers,
Jan
Had such a blast being featured in a podcasts by @beniheckmann at one of his YouTube channels „Tonstudiozeug“.
We’ve had an exciting conversation regarding mastering: the process, the mentality, go-to plugins, some tips & tricks and even more.
Thanks again to @beniheckmann for the lovely invitation and the amazing talk!
Definitely check out his other stuff on his YouTube channel 🔥

Happy new year & a big thanks for an unbelievable 2024!
As I´m wrapping up the last project and look back on the year, I can’t quite put into words how grateful I am for this year.
2024 was simply put: breathtaking!
Be it the wonderful projects I was privileged to work on, great conversations, new artists I got to know and see their journey or the massive growth of HarmonyMastering this year...
As much as I love the art of mastering, the people behind the music is what makes this job so beautiful.
So thanks to that & your trust!
To a great new year 2025 - can’t wait to see what it will bring.
Cheers & all the best
Jan
Big announcement ahead!
HarmonyMastering is moving around end of June - start of July.
As I am currently moving privately within Stuttgart, the beautiful studio space @dersoundmanntonstudio is unfortunately a bit far away for the future.
So the studio will move into a separate room in my new apartment a month later.
As much as I'm looking forward to having a new studio space "right next door", I'll really miss working & the overall atmosphere at the @dersoundmanntonstudio .
And of course the moss wall (which won't be rebuilt in the new room for the time being).
Now it's time to plan the room and build acoustic modules to ensure a seamless transition.
As the drive to the studio is longer in June and construction projects are scheduled during studio hours, it is possible that projects may take a little longer than usual during this period.
I will of course still try to work on your projects as quickly as possible in the current studio.
All projects that have been submitted so far are not affected by this.
Cheers

Kinda secretly been mastering the upcoming EP by @petrikor.band in the last weeks!
As every project is something special - and I’m beyond grateful for all your trust in my work - this one is up a notch.
Why you may ask?
Because some of their past music was in my personal playlist, prior to getting to know them better personally. And now even working on their music feels kinda surreal.
So I’m pretty humbled about that part of my mastering journey.
Prepare yourself for an awesome & energetic EP, beautifully mixed by @alessandro_moia (actually nicknamed him “vocal wizard” after hearing his mixes)!
Can’t wait to share this one with you soon.
Cheers.

Had a great time mastering a heavy hitting album by @dromopod yesterday!
It’s one thing I adore about mastering: getting to work on different genres and learning more about their specific characters.
The album was recorded & mixed by @johannesrupp_audio - and boy oh boy did he do a great job already 🔥
If you need a punchy production, he is your guy for sure!
Can’t wait to share this one with you all. Made me nod my head on every single chorus!
Cheers.

Had the pleasure of mastering my first album of the year.
As singles are way more common these days, EP or even album work is always something special and lovely to work on.
Especially when it’s such great music - the 35 minutes fly by.
@weltbildhauerinnen recorded 5 additional songs, to the already 4 released singles.
It will be a great mix, with funky tunes and deep lyrics.
You will have to wait a bit more - but I can already tell you: the album name couldn’t be more fitting!
Can’t wait to share the result with you & thanks again for @weltbildhauerinnen for their trust in my work.
