One of my favorite moments I’ve shared on the podcast was this story from Keeth Apgar of @harmonicapocket When I asked if they had backup names picked out for their son, Keeth shared how they actually chose his name. They decided not to find out the gender before birth and had a list of names ready. After delivery his son wasn’t breathing. In that moment, Keeth was asked to speak to his son, and he chose one of the names they had talked about together. That name became his son’s name. What a cool reminder of how big a moment can be as a parent. #HarmonicaPocket #KeethApgar #Fatherhood #ParentingPodcast #DadLife #ParentingJourney #IndieMusic #PodcastClip #FamilyStory #NewParents #DadPodcast #MusicianDad #ParenthoodMoments #EmotionalStory #PodcastRecommendation

On this episode we’re joined by Keeth Apgar from @harmonicapocket . We talked about life in the Pacific Northwest, connecting with nature, creating music for kids, and how children see the world in ways adults often forget. Keeth also shared about life with his son, transitioning from preschool teacher to full-time musician, loving the craft of songwriting, and learning to embrace mistakes as part of parenting. This conversation is a reminder that parenting isn’t about perfection — it’s about curiosity, creativity, and growing alongside your kids. #TheImperfectDad #HarmonicaPocket #KeethApgar #ParentingPodcast #DadLife Fatherhood ParentingJourney PacificNorthwest IndieMusic KidsMusic Songwriting CreativeParenting DadPodcast Parenthood MusicianDad FamilyLife RaisingKids ModernParenting PodcastRecommendation

Last night I was listening to classic country — Dolly Parton, George Jones, Merle Haggard — and then Eddie Rabbit’s I Love a Rainy Night came on. I had a childhood flashback kinda thing and remembered listening to that song in my early 80s bedroom. That record came out in June 1980, so I was prob 4 or 5 when that was playing on the radio. That is new terrain in my top 5 earliest memories. In the same way a photo can stimulate a memory, music is strong memory medicine. Other early memories include looking at the wacky artwork on the foldout booklet Magical Mystery Tour LP, and the equally bizarre Mr. Roboto / Styx album.

If you haven't been to a show in a while, this is gonna be a good one! My last few years of shows have been as a solo acoustic looping artist, building live loops with guitars, ukuleles, bass, a wah-wah pedal, harmonicas, and whatever else is rattling around in the suitcase. This is a fun venue in @mcmenaminselkstemple with a nice sound system. Yes, it is an all-ages family show! SUNDAY APRIL 26 @spanishballroom 565 Broadway Tacoma, WA 98402 Doors 11 am Show 12 pm All Ages Show! Advance Ticketing link in bio!

This is kind of cool news.... My song 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘎𝘪𝘧𝘵 made it all the way to the finals of the International Songwriting Contest (ISC) in the Children's Category. I think that means it’s a big deal? Winners will be announced in May. 𝗜 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲. It just doesn't make sense and I've seen it negatively overshadow the reasons humans make and love art in the first place. At the same time, it's a tough world out there and indie artists have to find ways to cut through the noise to avoid disappearing into the void. Sometimes these things help a song find more ears. Thanks for being with me on this musical ride, and for letting me sing on the soundtrack to your life. Listening and streaming links in comments below.

It’s a good thing I like hats — There’s always so much to keep on top of and I wear a lot of them. No gigs this week so I’m getting caught up on some van maintenance. #vanlife
