Hi, I am Marlie. I am the founder, designer and maker behind Hardt. I thought I would introduce myself and let you know a little about why I do what I do.
For most of my life I felt like an outsider, finding my community from a young age in the kink and alternative scene.
Jewellery making is a craft steeped in tradition, it fascinated me and taught me a new kind of discipline and reverence for tradition that I had never experienced before. For many years, I felt good making work that was safe and commercial, it felt nice to be recognized as a crafts person and professional.
But then, the inevitable happened and I felt called to make objects that spoke to my personal aesthetic, identity and personal history. Hardt is driven by my desire to live authentically and openly - while encouraging others to do the same. No one should need to choose between respect and authenticity.

All Hardt collars and cuffs are made in Melbourne using solid sterling silver. No cheap materials, no turning your skin green, these are luxury pieces made to last a lifetime 🖤
Lately, I’ve realised I’m not making with permanence in mind.
What I’m creating feels more like self-study , small manifestos in metal - each piece an exploration of where I am, what I’m questioning, and what I’m becoming.
Some works feel resolved, others feel like experiments, fragments, or thresholds. Not everything is destined for collection, but everything teaches me something about my language.
This piece was an exploration in tensions and restraint and in making it, I understood a little more about what draws me forward, and what does not.
I am learning to honour that process.
To make not only what sells, but what reveals.
To trust becoming over certainty.
Thank you for all the beautiful feedback on this piece, it means more than you could know 🖤

A study in restraint and reverence.
Crafted in sterling silver, this ring draws on the architecture of cage devices and symbols of denial, devotion, and control. The triple band form creates a minimalist cage, a quiet structure of containment. A small padlock hangs from it - an emblem of surrender and possession.
