Harden’s Top UK Restaurants: No. 7 🏆🔥
Humble Chicken, Soho. Omakase theatre, bird by bird. 🍢🍶
Coming in at No. 7 in the Harden’s 100 for 2026, Angelo Sato’s once yakitori-first Soho spot has levelled up into a 13-seat omakase experience that’s become one of the most talked-about Japanese meals in our diners’ poll, and yes, it’s now a two Michelin star destination.
Expect a Japanese and European fusion tasting menu where the counter seats are the whole point, “service at the bar creates a great interaction with the engaging staff”, and the cooking can hit genuinely sublime highs.
The verdict from diners? “So good… you’ll talk about booking again on your way home”, even if it’s “eye-wateringly expensive”.
💬 What our diners say:
“If you’ve never had a stuffed mussel you haven’t lived!”
“‘Fusion’ may be a dirty word but it works a treat.”
“One of the most exciting options in Soho nowadays.”
“Really innovative dishes, executed to perfection in a casual, buzzing atmosphere.”
“A very good meal… service was passionate and warm.”
⭐ Harden’s ratings:
Food: 5 (Exceptional) | Service: 3 (Good) | Ambience: 4 (Very good)

Harden’s Top UK Restaurants: No. 10
Skof, Manchester. Simple, understated excellence.
Coming in tenth and just a year old, Tom Barnes’s Manchester debut has already become one of the most talked-about restaurants in the Harden’s diners’ poll. Formerly executive chef at L’Enclume, Barnes brings a “tweezery, Nordic” sensibility to the Northern Quarter — and diners say “if you like the style, it’s hard to beat.”
Reports praise “inventive dishes with the highest quality ingredients,” a strong focus on seasonality and local sourcing, and the thrill of being invited to the kitchen counter to watch dishes being finished — a moment many describe as “quite special.” Service is repeatedly described as “friendly, engaged and professional,” with wine pairings that “work a treat.”
The verdict from diners? “Very expensive. Worth it? Oh yes.”
💬 What our diners say:
“Simple, understated excellence.”
“Food that was spectacular — I’d happily eat it all again.”
“From entry to exit it was first class.”

A hot newcomer this week was @bancone.pasta latest opening in the City.
Service and food were superb. The classics — fried artichoke and silk handkerchiefs — were as good as ever, while dishes unique to this branch included a tuna tartare with fried pasta and rare beef. A carbonara raviolo had sold out on our visit, but it sounded good enough to tempt us back.
An excellently located spot for a working lunch, with a fantastic atmosphere to match. We can’t wait to see what our diners think of it in the 2027 survey.

About last night: Gill to Tail at Dinings SW3.
A 10-course guest chef night with Masaki and Louise from Boubou’s, cooking sustainable seafood that uses every part of the fish.
Cod tongue, monkfish liver, dashi from shells and bones, a ‘tea’ of fins in warm sake. The hand-dived Cornish scallop is, by Masaki’s reckoning, sweeter than Scottish and almost as good as Japanese.
Louise opened Boubou’s Lisbon at 23, spent eight years there, and has just left to explore what’s next.
