A BIG thank you to the W.o.W. Women on Water Club of Chilton for hosting their 12th annual Mother’s Day kayak tour! Every year for Mother’s Day they host a Mother’s Day kayak tour and ask all who participate to bring donations for Harbor House! This year, 107 amazing women came together to raise over $1,100 and donate many items from our needs list to support individuals experiencing abuse in our communities! 💜

This Mother’s Day, we honor the strength, resilience, and love of mothers and caregivers everywhere; especially those who are navigating healing from domestic and sexual violence. At Harbor House Domestic and Sexual Violence Program, we see every day that “mother” can mean so many things: protecting children through unimaginable circumstances, rebuilding a sense of safety, and finding hope after hardship. If you are able, consider helping create safer futures for families in our community by supporting survivor services, sharing resources, or learning more about how to recognize and respond to abuse. This Mother’s Day, we celebrate every act of care, courage, and survival.

Mental health and domestic violence are deeply connected—but stigma often keeps survivors from speaking out or seeking support. This Mental Health Awareness Month, Harbor House is helping break the silence by exploring how abuse impacts mental health and why compassionate support matters. Read our latest blog: “Mental Health & Domestic Violence: Breaking the Stigma.” Together, we can create a community where survivors feel believed, supported, and empowered to heal. 💜 Read more: /educational-resources/publications/mental-health-domestic-violence-breaking-the-stigma/

As the sun sets on Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we are filled with immense gratitude. This year was a milestone, the 25th Anniversary of SAAM. Over the last 30 days, we’ve looked back at 25 years of progress, but more importantly, we’ve looked forward to the work still to be done right here in our community. To everyone who wore teal, donated to an Amazing Race team, shared a resource, or stood in solidarity on Denim Day: Thank you. At Harbor House, our doors remain open and our advocates remain ready. Support doesn't have a calendar—it’s a commitment we make to each other every single day of the year.

It’s Denim Day! 👖✨ We wear denim today because there is NO excuse for sexual assault. We wear it to honor survivors and to challenge the myths that put the blame on the victim instead of the perpetrator. The message is simple: My clothes do not equal my consent. Stand with Harbor House today. Post your denim selfie and use #DenimDay!

“Many of the patients that have been in our care have sought help on the worst day of their lives. We recognize the courage that it takes to walk through the doors of a hospital to seek help. Through strong community partnerships, including Harbor House advocates, no survivor has to face their worst day alone. Together, we are breaking the silence around domestic violence and affirming a clear message: abuse is never acceptable, help is available, and everyone deserves to feel safe.” ~ Leah Eckhart BSN, RN, SANE-A, SANE-P, Fox Valley SANE/Forensic Nursing Coordinator at Ascension In 2025, Harbor House attended a total of 114 SANE exams, for a total of 349.25 hours.
