This mortar and pestle is crafted from Aoishima Aji stone, an extraordinary granite mined from the foothills of Mount Goken. The mountain gets its name from its distinctive peaks, likened to “five swords” (goken). The celebrated hardness of this dintinct speckled granite is softened into a pestle and a mortar, cooking tools used since the Stone Age. Crafted by the artisans of AOISHIMA Inc, who uphold a 400-year legacy of working with this rare material at the highest level of mastery. Commissioned by Supermama, available for sale at @supermamasg

Temasek Cup & Saucer commissioned by @studio_juju for Temasek Shophouse. This resist-blast pattern was conceived during the pandemic lockdown, in a season when I deeply missed the textures of Singapore.

Before Before After.. Not all glaze and porcelain bisque respond the same way to resist blasting. In the first Before After collection, only four pieces survived—the others failed in the process. The material reveals itself only when it is pushed. And once blasted, there is no undoing it—the transformation is permanent.
