Getting outside of your comfort zone. Create design that makes you feel something. Inordinately beautiful things, door casings, not being afraid of being too much. #interiordesign #interiors #homedesign

Nautical but not ugly - what I would do in a beach house. Wood paneling, portholes, plaid sofas, murano, and lots of brass. #interiordesign #interiors #homedecor #homedesign #beachhouse

You could stand to go for it more outside. Episode 8. Stone steps. Tile everything. Joneses will move. Concrete birdbath or bust. Planters should be sculpture. Red against green. Do it. Shade = medieval. No goat turret? I can’t help you. Good design should make you nervous. #interiordesign #landscapedesign #exteriordesign #gardendesign #homedesign

Every room needs a skyline - different heights to move your eye around. Lamps, plants, art, mirrors, window treatments - all good ways to get there. #interiordesign #interiors #homedecor #homedesign #interiordesigntips

Big plants = cheat code. Been saying this for years. What has more design impact — a couch or a large plant? At least equal. Houses are artificial. Your plants shouldn’t be stool-sized clutter. You want canopy. Chair-sized. Person-sized. Why are the plants outside human-sized, but inside they’re tiny? This ficus costs a fraction of a couch and adds mammoth drama. Nothing artificial about this explosive pop of textural green. Big plants or bust. #interiors #interiordesign #homedecor #plants #interiordesigntips

We love natural light, but we love dimmers just as much. You need to be able to dial in the mood. #interiordesign #interiors #homedecor #lightingdesign
