just added Teddy in Green to my site! this piece features 6 matching teddy polymer clay beads (handmade by me) and an assortment of beautiful green spheres and saucers. Iāve been so moved by the greenery surrounding my home in between all of these rainstorms⦠spring :)! š§ø š
I love making āclassicā cane designs when Iām in a rut, focusing on the act of creation itself rather than chasing the myth of originality. The more you practice art, the more your own voice shines through, but you wonāt ever get there if you donāt start making stuff. š
Jelly roll canes are lovely because they are as simple as you want them to be! for this one, I used a purple Skinner blend I had laying around + a black and white striped accent. I even had enough leftover to make a little companion for this cane. I think Iāll use them to decorate some vessels but idk yet!

Iād really love for someone to set this little squishy teddy bear free in the world. he needs love. he needs attention. he needs to be paired with a chic top and some capris for summertime fun
progress pics of my attempt at the beautiful eyeshadow cane tutorial by @philipwiegard ! been working on this cane for a lil over a week cuz idk, puppy life, I get like 3 total hours to do clay a week! Iāve actually not attempted a face cane since I first started years back (and that one became scrap immediately), so I am gonna save some of this eye cane for that endeavor⦠šļøššļø
tbh Iām super busy over here with a new PUPPY lol but finally getting some time to sit down and take inventory + imagine what to make next. these are some pieces that I improvised while watching tv a few weeks back. trying to make use of canes Iāve already made to make room for new ones! Iām imagining Iāll affix these to barrettes or brooches later on but for now theyāre just gonna sit there and look pretty.
I save all my scraps in a bin, even if Iām not super into the colors, cuz they can always be mixed again or used as cores for beads. the š cane I made the other day wasā¦ā¦. not my best work. I hated it! it went straight back to the bin. but Iāve been wanting to remake the blue flower cane for awhile because I find myself using it in a lot of my work, and Iām super happy with todayās version!! turns out the teal and pink from the discarded bow cane work beautifully as a pastel blend.
I remembered wishing Iād done a better job of packing the petals nicely so they wouldnāt distort as much, so I made sure to do that with this version.
every cane is a lesson hehe #polymerclay #sculpeypremo #claycane #polymerclaycanes #polymerclayartist #millefiori
(2023) canāt remember what I named this one! or if it ever sold?! itās not in my possession now so I guess itās out there somewhere :-) polymer clay + mica powder + glass beads and stainless steel #polymerclay #clayartist #polymerclayartist #handmadejewelry
shoreline pendant. still on my big bead journey, this one is abt 2.5x1.5ā! I cured the form first, then applied the veneer around it and cured again.
a work in progress as it still needs sanding + buffing #polymerclay #polymerclayart #beadmaking #pendant
trick question š theyāre neither!! I make my beads 100% out of polymer clay⦠no paints or printing needed. The designs are made by forming clay into long rods, ācanes,ā which I compress into smaller sizes and slice thinly to be squished onto the round clay base. Once the clay is cured, the beads are highly durable.
These beads combine a few red and black elements that remind me of a Donna Kato piece. Probably because I recently borrowed her book, āThe Art of Polymer Clay Millefiori Techniquesā from the library!! we are so lucky to have masters in this niche art-form sharing their expertise ā¤ļø #polymerclaycreations #polymerclaycanes #claybeads #artbeads #artjewelry
just felt like leaping back to 2024 to remember what I got up to⦠these necklaces were part of my āsynthā collection.
these veneers were made using a clay process derived from mokume gane - a 17th century Japanese metalworking technique in which thin layers of metal are forged and carved to resemble wood grain. similarly, thin stacks of polymer clay are layered, stamped, and carved away to reveal the designs within.
I might spend some time with this technique next week to give myself a break from the endless cane-making⦠plus this is a really nice way to use up a ton of scraps.
