First pain-free press in a while 🥳 after taking some time off ‘serious’ handstand training and presses due to an injury, I was very afraid that I was going to lose my press, a skill I have been working on for 2+ years.
However, my press has somehow come back cleaner than ever and it goes to show how important rest is, and also how movement patterns integrate into your body and mind through repetition & rest, something @acrojoey was explaining to me before.

Try these drills to work on your ACTIVE shoulder mobility 👌
PSA - its may not be your shoulder or core strength limiting your handstand progress, it’s more likely your active overhead mobility that you need to work on 💁♀️
1) 90 degree leg lift offs using the wall - measure your leg distance from the wall, find your 90 degree angle then take one leg off to your handstand line, then alternate legs. Record yourself to check your shoulders are not too open or closed.
2) Overhead mobility stretch - ideally you want the table/bar/hand placement on the wall to be around hip height. Hips directly over ankles, stretch down into a passive overhead stretch. Then come into the more active variation pushing through the shoulders, engaging the pelvis tuck and rounding the upper back.
3) Chest to wall handstand holds - focusing on FORM rather than TIME. Pushing through shoulders & externally rotating them, engaging pelvis and squeezing legs/glutes. Start with 10 second holds and increase as your endurance improves. As soon as you start to lose your form come down and reset. There is no point in doing this drill with incorrect form because you are then training your body to do this shape off the wall.
