🧺 What started with one basket is changing a whole community 🧺 On a roadside in Tanzania’s Manyara region, Petronila Gobi began weaving not just baskets, but a new future. Once struggling to make ends meet, Petronila turned her craft into a thriving business. With support from our training programme, she sold out her stock in just one week and now employs up to 45 women in her village. Each basket tells a story of strength, skill, and shared success 💪🏾🧺 #womensupportingwomen

Women farmers hold up food systems 👏 2026 is the FAO’s International Year of the Woman Farmer. Women farmers around the world are essential, but undervalued. With investment, they can: 💸 Economically empower their families and communities 🍅 Create better food security for the whole planet ⛰️ Steward the land to create better climate resilience and biodiversity Despite the benefits, there is a huge gender gap in farming. Supporting women farmers could raise global GDP by up to 1 trillion USD. Join us in celebrating the contribution of women farmers, and help us reach tens of thousands more this year. Swipe to meet just some of the extraordinary women farmers we work with. #yearofthewomanfarmer

"Many of these women never learned to read or write, but trust me: they know money." That's Hand in Hand Tanzania's Country Director Jane Sabuni talking about the thousands of women entrepreneurs we work with in both urban and rural Tanzania. These women often run informal businesses and earn subsistence income with what limited resources are available. Our mission is to equip women living in some of the world's toughest places with more skills and resources so they can bring their visions to life, ignite local economies and lift nations out of poverty. #Development #Entrepreneurship #EndPoverty

Using regenerative farming to lift her family out of poverty 🌽 Judith Owano was making a monthly income of just $225 PPP from her family farm in Migori, Kenya. After Hand in Hand training, she introduced a range of regenerative agricultural practices to the farm, planting fruit and indigenous trees to create new sources of food and income. Now, she’s looking forward to expanding the garden even further, planting more fruit trees and turning her farm into a model of sustainable agriculture for her neighbours. #endpoverty #internationalyearofthewomanfarmer

Business is blooming for Editha Masongela 🌻🌻🌻   Editha lives in the Manyara region of Tanzania, and supports three young children. Her youngest is just six-years-old.   Until recently, she was earning the equivalent of just $63 USD per month from her tailoring business and her small farm.   Editha joined Hand in Hand in 2022, where she learned financial skills and received tailored agricultural support.   Using modern methods and improved seeds, Editha cultivated an acre of sunflowers herself, while fifteen members of her self-help group collectively farmed another acre nearby.   Together, they’re now expecting yields up to four times higher than before, and are planning sales to local sunflower oil plants. #SpringIsComing #Farmers #endpoverty
