I was thrilled to be in the room to see the London presentation of Tarita’s magnum opus ‘The Sun Queen’. It is a superb show and deserves the greatest success. Congratulations Tarita, @Theresa at #cre8tion and the brilliant direction by #paigerattray @reshare_app • @sanitenor_sings What a glorious morning. I was in the room with great anticipation. The room was filled with the music the words vision and majesty of ‘The Sun Queen’ by @damemothertarita Dr Tarita Botsman. Brilliant singers actors and direction, a string ensemble and the magnificence of its creator, Tarita. Thanks for inviting me, who knew that when we first met in 91, through music we’d still be led by it, fed by it, and greatly destroyed by it. Obliteration a necessary requisite for creation. It was fabulous. Every success for the sun queen and for you. Mālō lava.
Nice change of pace to sit back and enjoy an evening of jazz at @hoxtonhall . @danisicari is a very talented classical soprano from Perth, Western Australia who can sing swing too…extremely well!!! It’s a wonderful show. @reshare_app • @theeasyrollers EXTRA DATE ADDED 📣

Today started with two full orchestral runs of Strauss’ Salome with singers, performed by @regentsopera . If Strauss were a verb, I would say I am straussed out. An amazing way to spend the day. I loved every minute.
A highlight to hear @humblemezzo and @schouten92 , and to watch @benjaminjwoodward conduct. The standard of singing and playing was first class.
Performances on April 10, 11, 18, 19, 21, 23 at York Hall, East London.
Tickets: /regents-opera
Tonight I am at the @troubadourlondon in Earl’s Court. A complete change of pace in an historic folk venue. Ben is in the headliners band. Go @benhancockmusic
On my way home from a truly magical recital given by Australian soprano @siobhanstagg at @wigmore_hall in a programme including Faure, Sibelius, Mozart, and Medtner. Siobhan is enjoying a glittering career singing the major lyric soprano roles in major houses and festivals internationally. To hear a voice of that class in recital is a unique experience.
I had such a great time sitting on the panel for @nyiop_auditions in Paris yesterday.
For those who insist the “golden age” of singing is behind us, yesterday said enough. Free voices, secure technique, strong command of language, and clear dramatic instinct. The standard is there. Bravo NYIOP for giving these artists a platform to be heard.
The panel brought together casting directors and agents from major European houses, including Longborough Festival Opera in the UK, which made it all the more rewarding to be part of.
Big thanks to NYIOP and to all the artists who shared their work with us. It takes courage to walk into a room like that and give everything.
Also, small Paris win. I didn’t expect it, but getting around by Lime bike was so easy. Riding along the Seine ended up being one of my favorite parts of the trip.
And Notre Dame… still breathtaking.
Wearing my agent hat today but firstly I have to have the best coffee in Paris @caferevelotion . It had to be a flat white. Thanks for the recommendation @larahancock7929
50 years on — 16 October 1975, Balibó, Timor-Leste.
I remember the #BaliboFive — journalists from Australia, New Zealand, and Great Britain:
Greg Shackleton (Australia), Gary Cunningham (New Zealand), Tony Stewart (Australia), Brian Peters (Great Britain), Malcolm Rennie (Great Britain) — and Roger East (Australia), who was executed weeks later for seeking the truth.
In 2007, a New South Wales coroner found they were deliberately killed (murdered) by Indonesian special forces to stop their reporting—findings widely described as a war crime. I honour their courage, the people of Timor-Leste, and the principle that journalism matters.
