Finally summers arrived!! ☀️ I for one definitely see myself as a bit of a sun-worshipper which as it turns out is a good thing for not only giving us that gorgeous summer glow but it’s actually pretty amazing for our health too. So often the dangers of the sun are shouted about but did you know that we can can only get a certain amount of vitamin D through our food (think oily fish, eggs). We also rely on getting a boost of vitamin d through sunlight to: - Keep our immune system healthy
- Regulate our hormone balance - Improve absorption of nutrients - Combat brittle bones (osteoporosis)
- And protect us from a long list of diseases (ie, Rheumatoid arthritis, Depression, Psoriasis, Dementia)
In order to get the daily requirement of vitamin D we don’t need to lie in the sun until we bake. In Britain, getting your face and arms in the sunshine for just 15/20 minutes without suncream in the middle of the day should be all we need. Any longer, be sure to use a mineral based suncream to protect your skin. I can really feel a difference if I’ve been working inside a dark studio for a few weeks.
If you are inside for most of the day try to get outside at lunchtime, treat yourself to a walk or grab a coffee or matcha in the sun.
It is also a good idea not to shower instantly after being exposed to the sun as it takes a couple of hours for the fat- soluble Vitamin D to be absorbed into the system.
I know where I’ll be while this beautiful weather is sticking around 💛 x
So loving being back in my kitchen again ❤️ - - -
Tonight is a quick easy dinner. Almond Butter Pad Thai with Edamame Noodles. I usually use Black Bean but couldn’t get any today!! It’s packed with Fresh Ginger and Garlic which help fight any inflammation or infection in the body. The Almond Butter is not only Delicious (on EVERYTHING!!) but also a great healthy fat which promotes a healthy heart and keeps blood sugar stable. I’ve also loaded it with lots of crunchy veggies to get all the antioxidants.
Andddd it only takes about 15 mins (20/25 if you dance around the kitchen like I did 😂) So good 😋 x
Still dreaming about the most incredible bar at Cartier’s Queen’s Polo from the weekend... it took a lot of willpower not to eat all the strawberries and cherries 🍒 🍓
First attempt at Sweet Potato Brownies!! As a self- confessed choco-holic I can most definitely vouch for these!!! They are every bit as good as the real thing! If you haven’t tried them - DO IT - You don’t know what you’re missing. Also it’s absolutely 100% socially acceptable to eat these for breakfast without guilt because they are basically making your body a temple!! 😂
My kind of wine glass 😍 very excited that the house I’m staying in for work has a juicer!! Loading on the veggies this morning! - - -
2 Handfuls of Organic Kale
5cm Chunk of Cucumber
1 Pear
1/4 Lemon
1in chunk of Fresh Ginger (with skin on)
SO GOOD!! And great for your Liver if your wine glasses didn’t contain green juice last night 😂😂
Time to say goodbye to my Indian adventure and these phenomenal sunsets! It’s been beyond incredible. I am filled with so much love and gratitude right now ❤️
