HUGE day to be a baby plant in Walyalup yesterday 🌱 but mainly a ripper day to be part of this BRILLIANT community 💚 Thank you Freo for coming out to be a part of a vision we had over 18 months ago. A vision to start depaving and rewilding our town/ city/ state/ country… This project is a reminder that caring for this place is in our hands 🫶
What a joy it was to plant together. It’s extra special to be doing something that future generations will enjoy.

This perfect pisces elfin girl joined us recently. Born just before midnight after 48 hours of long/hilarious/beautiful/hard labour, we welcomed Vivienne Pearl Howlett 💛
Vivi entered the room calm and wide eyed. She’s got a very ‘been-here-before’ way about her that we just love.
She was guided gently and expertly by @llama_joy (I’m not sure we can ever thank you enough) and if anyone were to ask me for birthing advice I’d say try and have a best friend who’s a midwife. Failing that, a birth partner who’s strong (physically, for the hip squeezes and emotionally, for the sheer effort of it all). Worth it though.

During this (October) sesh we decided that a monthly meet up for anyone who’s keen to do good / fun / nice stuff around Central Freo would be a good / fun / nice thing to do.
So, next Sunday 23rd November (4pm start) is the first of these regular hang outs. If you’re free, and keen to get your hands dirty in central Walyalup - please come along. All welcome.

Some friends and I recently formed Freo Department Of Culture (@freo.doc ) with the intention to pour our frustrations/fears about the world into something more productive/positive (quite good to do in these unprecedented times).
We won a $100,000 grant to plant some things in the ground along William Street in Freo (very good). And after several months of planning, we’re actually Doing It (the most good).
Selfishly, we want native flowers everywhere and somewhere nice to sit and eat lunch outside. Maybe the streets will be cooler too.
Selflessly, the city of Freo has offered up this strip of bitumen and helped us put together a planting scheme. (Yes, good).
You can be Good too. We need your thoughts and feelings on the project for it to get the green light; maybe you want to see something added or removed, maybe you want to help us put plants in the ground, maybe you’ve got machinery or $$money$$ or expertise that could help this project - and more into the future. Because there’s going to be more (threatening good).
