Meet Subehdar Yousuf Ali. In this episode, Subehdar Yousuf talks about the 1947 rebellion in Gilgit, and how ultimately the NLI was formed. Honestly this interview is the longest in the series yet, and I didn’t get to talk much. But I guess that’s how a history lesson should be. Episode 4 of Muqalma is live now! Stay tuned, Stay curious. More episodes coming soon. And to everyone watching, Happy Independence Day 💚 ——————————————————————————— #naltar #hunza #gilgitbaltistan #northernlightinfantry #pakistanarmy #veteranstory #pakistan #pakistanindependenceday #independenceday #14thaugust #patriotism #pakistanzindabad #visitpakistan #travelpakistan #northernareas #untoldstories #pakistanheritage #mountainstories #pakistanhistory #storytelling #untoldstories #documentary #pakistanpride #india #indianindependenceday

Dear Moms, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for everything you do. Your ability to gracefully balance work and family life while handling countless behind-the-scenes tasks is genuinely inspiring. I recognize that you perform numerous invisible tasks daily that often go unnoticed by others. To all the working moms out there, you not only excel in your careers but also shoulder the responsibility of countless unseen chores. You're the ones who manage medical appointments, plan meals, concern yourselves with your children's nutrition, and keep tabs on grocery lists. You're the ones who know which clothes fit your kids and meticulously plan out each week, ensuring everyone has what they need. Even with supportive partners, I want to acknowledge the immense mental load you carry, especially given the current state of our country. Your resilience in facing each day is truly admirable. I want to remind you that progress is being made, even if it feels like each day is a repetitive cycle, and you go to bed utterly exhausted with seemingly little to show for it. It's exhausting to remain strong and positive for your family when you may not have all the answers and may be feeling scared and uncertain yourself. I encourage you to try this exercise if you're willing. Go back to the start of this letter, replace "Moms" with your own name at the top, and read the letter again, adjusting the details to make them personally meaningful. Picture yourself acknowledging your efforts. Furthermore, envision accepting these messages as truths – that you are indeed doing a fantastic job and are exceptional moms. Regard, A son

If I could sit with my 12-year-old self, I think I’d mostly listen. But being the "bigger person" out of us both, I’d tell him that the confusion he feels isn’t weakness. It’s sensitivity. I’d tell him that one day he’ll try very hard to look like he has it all figured out. He’ll polish his work, his words, his confidence, because the world rewards certainty. And sometimes, people will clap. Sometimes they’ll choose him. But there will be nights when he’ll feel strangely empty, wondering why the things that look good don’t always feel true. I’d tell him that it’s okay to feel behind. That depth is slow by nature. That some people are meant to arrive early, and others are meant to arrive aware. I’d tell him that learning how things really work, beneath the surface, will humble him. It will take away shortcuts. It will make his work quieter, but heavier. Less impressive at first glance, but more honest over time. And that honesty will start to matter more than praise. Most of all, I’d tell him this, very gently: You don’t need to become louder to matter. You don’t need to rush to belong. The parts of you that hesitate, question, and care deeply are not obstacles. They are anchors. I’m still carrying that 12-year-old with me. Still trying to protect the part of him that pauses before speaking, that wants to understand before showing, that feels before it explains. And if there’s one thing I hope he’d forgive me for, it’s this: That it took me this long to realise he was never wrong. He was just early.

When the economy's "Crumble"-ing, everyone's got one question to ask "Yeh 20 Rupay Ka Biskoot Kitna Ka Hai?" Seedhi Saadhi Khushi costs us more than we think, but we'll stick to the biscuits for now.
